1990C4S "And if he wasn't mocking, what exactly was he doing? Entertaining us?"
If he were mocking...he wouldn't be complimenting him.

And, especially when you 1 don't personally know someone and their values and 2 only hear their voice, but can't see them and their body language, what are the odds that everyone listening got the right meaning of his speech. We have green text here for a reason, and it's because in written word, it's hard to know what one person means. We have had many misunderstandings over the years based on written text. Spoken word is a little better because you can hear how they are presenting it, but even then, with a large audience, you're going to get a wide range of interpretations.

What if the response to an incident by the company results in a larger negative involving more people than what the employee originally said? I already do not make effort to watch major TV sports expressly because of the fake atmosphere that I observed in increasing enforcement. It's been nearly ten years since I went somewhere expressly to watch a NASCAR race on TV. They lost me with the enforcement of what was said during the broadcasts into a hollow and fake world. Now I watch amateur racing where a colorful world with variety still exists. I would still expect some boundries for broadcast, but this is too tight. In a case where an obvious positive take away exists let it go that way. Last edited by Tervuren; 08-19-2021 at 10:00 AM.. |

On a side, sad note to this.....Bill Freehan died today. 11 time All-Star
79 years old. Catcher for the Tigers. I clearly remember watching him on b&w tv...settling in under the final out in the 68 world series. Bob Gibson and the Cards took it to 7 games. Pitcher Mickey Lolich won 3 of the 4 games for Detroit.

'Anybody notice how some politicians can change accents while on the campaign trail? Hillary was a master at this.
PC and the cancel culture...making everybody afraid to speak...pretty sick... I quit watching sports now that they've become "woke"...which puts me to sleep.

I hardly ever watch MLB anymore. I just happened to hear his apology while watching the Tiger game. Miguel Cabrera has 499 HR's and the place was standing for all his at bats.

^^^ I was at Tiger Stadium for McLains 30th win of the season.
My father, grandfather, and me. I remember looking out the car window on the ride to the stadium and seeing all the burnt-out buildings after the 68 riots. What Lolich did in that series was incredible.

Lidicurous would probably be closer. I have many Japanese acquaintances and friends and have flirted with the idea of picking up a little Japanese, so as not to be so useless on a future trip to Japan. They can pronounce L’s and R’s just fine, but phonetically their words are broken up into 50 or 60 syllables and there are a lot of English words that don’t lend themselves to speech patterns using those same syllables. It’s complicated.

Nevermind, I saw the bar pop up at the bottom after starting the clip with the main blue button. Don't know how I missed that. Not very observant.

It’s not you. It doesn’t pop up when you first push play and if you hit the screen and make it pop up again, it will disappear after a couple seconds anyway.

^^^ No pics of that game..I was only 15 and didn't own a camera.
I do have numerous pics of the 84 series. We attended the final winning game for Det. over San Diego. I have a pic of Gibson's 1st homer of the game coming off his bat. His second one landed about 15 seat rows from us.

If you look close...you can see the baseball in the air from Kirk Gibsons bat. Goose Gossage is the pitcher.
Not bad...$15 for a WS final game ticket!
