Seems like just the opposite to me. Normal folks should be able to discuss politics without becoming manic. It is no different than discussing walnut trees or dishwashers... and the best solutions. I cannot understand how the go to response is almost always a personal attack...or why someone posting something you disagree with is sufficient reason to decide that you cannot function on the same BBS as that person. If one does not want to discuss whatever topic is being discussed...just click on another thread. It seems to me that those that complain most about political posts in OT actually turn the most threads political. Was just looking at an old thread that had nothing to do with anything even remotely political...yet one of the guys that always complains about politicization of threads quickly turned it to COVID and the morons here that did not agree with his position. Oh well...folks will always disagree on things and the current trend to discourage/prevent any speech (here or elsewhere) that disagrees with the official government viewpoint simply divides us more. When the EEOC ruled that wearing a confederate flag or Gadsden Flag T shirt (Don't tread on me) could be considered punishable harassment I was concerned. When they started blocking websites and news that did not reflect well on one political party, I was very concerned. When one can only consume the ideas/information that the government sees fit...fascism is not far away.

Yes, everyone should approach discussions with an open mind and the certainty that all liberals are retarded, as you do. That would really clean things up!

Too bad about this thread. I had a genuine curiosity regarding a long time/active poster during my time here that may have passed. Often there are people that have met in real life and may be able to confirm one way or another. But apparently that's not the case here.

Indeed he has.
Of course I like liberals just fine. They believe in freedom of speech/thought, are generally open to almost any discussion, and they can change their mind if presented a convincing argument. Now and then they convince me. What I am pretty much opposed to are those that want to shut down any argument/opinion that does not match theirs. They are less liberal and more fascist...and usually, their argument is so poor that they find it necessary to limit opposing views to be convincing. Many seem to call themselves progressives but some call themselves conservatives. Neither group seem to realize that eventually the other side is in power and their fervent desire for government (or others) to limit the rights of those they disagreed with might soon apply to them. The current propensity to prevent speech that some disagree with does not bode well for the nation...as the ability to do so provides immense power to one group over others.. Power corrupts...and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

There is not an insult in my post, just bringing up what fint has stated as fact. And taking issue with the pedestal he is so fond of placing himself on, above the fray that he is so very much a part of.

No man died here and none of the posts here will hurt him one bit. You just use that as an excuse to take shots at people you have some past butt-hurt with and are looking to salve. Randy gave as good as he got. I am sure that he passed without any concern that someone might discuss the same type topics he loved in a thread about him. We discuss people that die here regularly...some heroically (recently 13 young Marines). Maybe a few tears in that thread would make your posts here seem bit less self-serving. If you really wanted to turn the thread into an attack on others, just fess up and do so...don't use the guy with multiple personalities who failed to ever follow the rules here as an excuse.

Yes...wherever Randy is...he is looking at this thread and smiling at the path some have taken it. He may have finally "won" a thread...something he pursued relentlessly that eluded him in life. Congrats Webb!

No class. Or is that low class? Either way, sad.

...and those two posts will live forever...as the very epitome of class and taste. Thank you for elevating this thread to almost the level of an elementary school playground. If not for the profanity-laced post above, you two might just have made the highlight reel.
Randy would be proud of the level folks have taken a thread about his apparent passing (or at least one of the identities he used here would). The name calling and childish insults are a nice touch for a wake. Funny how some have a gift that just keeps on giving. Once again, RIP Webb and congrats! May God bless you...and those who would use your passing (assuming you did indeed pass) as an excuse for petty attacks on the living.
