I’m not versed in insurance talk so I ask, is it typical to be insured against a judgement for liability due to negligence?

Jolly Amaranto 10-28-2021 04:42 PM

I have never heard if they checked the spent cartridge for finger prints to figure out who put it there. If it was not wiped down before the sheriff got there or if they somehow bungled the investigation.

Didn't it get sent to the FBI lab in Quantico?

Armorer.

Armorer isn't back from lunch? You wait. I think this incident proves it.

Armorer is on set doing “Fire Watch” with the weapons. Something is needed (dummy rounds, blanks) prop master retrieves them from the safe and brings to set for the Armorer. All weapons and rounds, even dummy rounds and rubber guns are always stored in the safe.

But for a weapon heavy show you will have 2-3 Armorers.

Somebody’s lying to CYA. There’s no way you would lock up weapons yet leave ammo unattended on set.

Crowbob 10-28-2021 06:18 PM

Of course somebody’s lying.

But can you imagine Baldwin’s agony right now? I can’t even come close. Well maybe I can. But mine was anger, not remorse. It got so bad that for months and months I’d wake up in the middle of the night from a dead sleep sweating and clenched, sometimes with a yell. After happening for a while, I’d just get up. No sense trying to go back to sleep.

I can understand that. But would think the guns and rounds in two sperate safes. Guns in one safe only accesable by the armorer. Rounds in another accessable by Armorer and the PM.

Is the PM trained?

EDIT: Here in New jersey just to transport weapons and amunition they must be stored seperately and secure.

Yes that is exactly what it covers.

Errors and Omission insurance. Usually covers paperwork screwups, oversight on government rules, sexual harassments claims, etc. Don't think manslaughter is covered.

AB is hiding out in Vermont. Shaved his beard. Not talking to the press.

And we've also had a "that wasn't a blank?!?" tragedy maybe twenty years or so ago, on Xmas eve believe it or not. I think that actually made the pro-force move to "exercise-only" weapons incapable of firing live rounds. With at least two operating live-fire "shoot-houses" onsite I'm amazed nothing's happened since to be honest. We did however have one guard "dry-fire" a TV/monitor to an early grave at our plutonium facility. Must get boring at 0300...

GEEEZE! Especially on the guy taking out the TV! LOL!

This article gives some information about how and by whom the movie was being produced.

Not really clear to me if you know much about insurance.

The production isn’t restarting soon or ever, so no need for the beard?

Hmmm this article states the armorer inspected the gun/s and placed them in the props gun safe and went to lunch . It then says the prop master removed them from the gun safe after lunch and handed them to the armorer . How can that be ? It was previously stated the armorer wasn't back from lunch when the guns were placed back on set . So which is it ? Someone is not telling the truth .

Paywall blockage.

For Alec’s sake, I hope he was insured to the hilt.

The beard being shaved is an observation, I have had E&O insurance whilst serving on a employee union board.

Instead of simply slamming me, post where I am wrong. Or are you simply out to cancel me due to location of No Cal and PNW?

Not saying you are wrong just clarifying it's a common mistake.

You probably had D&O (Directors and Officers) coverage as a member of the union board.

E&O (Errors and Ommissions) is a professional liability coverage. Lawyers, engineers, Insurance, Real Estate and many other professionals. The medical profession carries a form of E&O called Malpractice insurance.

I am not familiar with the film industry so some speculation on my part as to proper coverage but the production company most likely carried a GL (General liability) policy of some sort as basic coverage against law suits and probably a requirement to lease the property for filming. There could be other insurance carried as well such as an auto policy for vehicles owned by the production company. Not sure the production company would have had a need for any sort of professionaly liability, E&O or D&O but again I am not verse in the film industry.

Certain "professionals" involved with the production may have had E&O coverage in addition to some sort of GL. Such as the armorer or medical personnell especially if hired as independant contractors as opposed to employees. Again, I am not familiar with the industry or qualificatins to be designated an Armorer. If there is a certain level of schooling involved, testing and licensing need before the designation applies then I would think an E&O policy would apply.

I am not sure about this production but there are most likely dozens of over lapping insurance policies. The owner of the property should be carrying GL, the production company, each independant contractor hired.

I was trying to find out if you actually know insurance, before spending the time to type a long post.

Not in the insurance biz but spent 15 years as a lawyer litigating (among other things) insurance coverage, bad faith, declaratory relief cases. Your post looked completely wrong to me but thought I'd give you an oppty to explain.

I question that young woman's veracity. She states a few things that are not consistent with reality

Rick Lee 10-29-2021 09:02 AM

I don't care how many "expert" hands the gun passed through or the rules or laws or what anyone says about a gun being safe. If my mom or dad handed me anything that looked like a real gun and swore it was unloaded, I'd still clear it myself. I can't believe anyone would do it any differently. Geezus, I wouldn't take an evidence locker gun with a zip tie through the barrel without clearing it.
