My Ingersol Rand Impact wrench
I have a Ingersol Rand 2132G impact wrench. I have had it since 2004 or so, and it really does not get that much use as I only work on my cars.
I pulled it out of the tool drawer today and hooked up the air hose and the it started spinning at a decent speed. No impact noises, and I could just squeeze the socket to get it to stop and put it on a nut to remove. I do use some impact gun oil fairly often, but I have not done any other maintenance or work on it. It worked fine last time I used it. I see rebuild kits from the entire innards to "input repair kits" and I am wondering if the brain trust has any advice. Is rebuilding an impact wrench fairly easy, or is it a nightmare.

Id pour a bunch of transmission fluid through it . Hold the trigger and pour it in the air nipple till it overflows , then run it , rinse and repeat a few times. I wonder if a hammer is stuck ?
I think there is a grease fitting on the hammer body that you can inject grease into the hammer mechanism also . You need a needle for your grease gun . The trigger mechanisms can fail , and not deliver enough air to the motor . I've had to replace a few of those . If it feels like you are not getting full throttle, may just need to purchase that . Takes 3 minutes to swap out

Only if I pull the trigger.
From looking around I am finding I likely need this kit: https://www.amazon.com/Ingersoll-2135-K303-2115TIMAX-Impact-Wrench/dp/B00BCNFFY0 It is the air inlet repair kit. It seems to be a problem with one seal that wears and the air gets past the seal and cause the socket to spin.

I had that issue and it was just the seal had moved out of alignment somehow.

Anyone else run out to the garage to see if their IR rattlegun was still rattling?
(it is! - and I treated the seals to a little oil...)

I guess, I incorrectly called that the trigger, but that is the piece that I was talking about Pretty much indestructible otherwise .
