I thought they used a George Foreman grill to put those on there.

I've never had one but my body has always had an issue with how they prepare their food. IOW it always makes me feel unwell.

Had one above five-ish years ago, first time in twenty plus years. It did not play well with my internals. It was an ugly mess.

I think they use real (fresh) onions on the McRib. But the quarter pounder and some of the other burgers use dehydrated onions that are brought to life before being placed on the burger.
The dehydrated ones are responsible for the bad stomach effects.

I know this thread is going to off the rails about FF and such. But the topic is McRib from McD. I ate a few in my younger years, when it first came out. Not impressed. Fast forward I am on a technical team (me the old guy) flying (COD) from North Island to the CVN Regan off shore somewhere SoCal. We get delay after delay. A few younger guys come up with the brilliant plan to hit McD cause the McRib is back on the menu. They are chomping away on the fake meat cast to look like ribs and meat and I am drinking a Sprite and taking Meclizine for the upcoming trip. A couple hours later we are approaching the ship and multiple of my guy are now spitting up McRib on the floor of the COD (C-2 Greyhound), it's a known bumpy ride in...

That McRib meal, hard pass for me

My only problem with McDonald's is that there is more bun and sauce than meat in the Big Mac. Quarter pounder is probably their best standard burger. I pretty much only eat McDonald's when I'm in Manteca buying pumpkins in October and only because there is zero time to eat anything else.

I used to really like the Chicken Parmesan sandwich that they discontinued in the early 2000s. Those were really fantastic.

And BTW we sell a knockoff to the McRib in AM/PM. I don't eat those either.

Never had one.

Last time I ate McDonald’s, was years ago and I probably got a quarter pounder with cheese.

For me, McDonald's most valuable asset will always be their bathrooms while on a road trip. Always seem to meet some kind of universal minimum standard you can count on. They are scattered along every Interstate so very efficient.

As far as food....I can't say I've ever had a McRib, nor the desire to. I like the fries, the filet-o-fish, and the cheeseburgers, if I'm eating anything. I'll sometimes get a couple regular hamburglers for my dog while there too. Or a milk shake for my Mom - if I'm already there.

FWIW, the local Walmart here, at their deli, has had a $6 special on their ribs w/one side. Their ribs are the real deal and very good too.

No thanks.
It's not cheese, it's "cheese-food".

And not to defend them, but almost everything is better with the right cheese.

McD's has always been pretty famous for it's fries. The last time or two that I went, I remember being really disappointed in the fries. They had a weird flavor (I'm assuming the grease needed to be replaced).

I remember the McDonalds Steak Sandwich. It was pretty good. They had a BBQ sauce which had viable pieces of onion. Similar to but not the same as McNugget BBQ sauce. It pre-dated McNuggets and McRib. Haven't seen it since early 1980's?

They changed the oil to a healthier blend of vegetable oil in the '90s. They were horrible at first but I have become used to them and they have adjusted the combination/mix of oils to better imitate the flavor of the original oil.

My ex loves the McRib! I told her Sam's Club sells the rib sandwich. I think it was 10 sandwiches for $10. Put your own onions and bbq sauce. It isn't bad, but it isn't great either!
