Site admin could run a report on users with more than 500 posts that haven’t logged in since xx/xx/xxxx and dump the user names here. I have to think about what I had for dinner 3 nights ago… it’s hard to recall usernames I haven’t seen in years!

I also hated to see Dean go.

One great contributor that passed (I think) suddenly/quietly was Jim Sims. He had a great deal of expertise in in 911 A/C.

Mike AKA Lubby is fine.

I owe him a call, we are supposed to try and get together for dinner.

He's swamped with business and has some normal life stuff going on that's not my place to speak about but he's good.

Haven't seen or or heard from Jims5543 lately. My fellow Land Surveyor brother down in Florida. I sent him a pm on 6/16 with no reply and see he hasn't posted since 4/29. Hoping he's alright!

sc_rufctr 07-04-2022 10:47 PM

Has anyone heard from "Rica" lately? I miss his posts in PARF.

She had a Pelican "stalker" that pretty much chased her away from the board.

We talked by phone this weekend and text each other all the time.

I am trying to help get some of his ideas into DoD UAS.

Great guy.

I can tell you that one of the things that surprised me when I became a Mod was the relatively frequent PM that either asks for help with a stalker or requesting we erase all their posts since they are no longer happy with OT and PARF.

That's super unfortunate.

The bit about PARF is not that surprising.

KFC911 07-05-2022 06:01 AM

Seahawk, I applaud the efforts you have made since becoming a mod, but the nonsense and damage was already done.... rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic comes to mind. You've made a difference for sure .... my brief forays into PARF have shown me that ;). Nobody really comes here to discuss religion however ... but it will surely keep the non-believers away.

edited: To be clear, it's not the topics per se.... it's the tone and general mood of this place that went to hell.... REPENT heathens :D

Warren Hall, Early_S_Man.

How many of us knew him from this forum? His contributions are on par with Grady.

Though I never met him, he helped me with many challenges with my car back when I first got it.

His death deeply affected me, it was the first and most notable absence from this forum.

manbridge 74 07-05-2022 09:21 AM

Yeah, Warren was an excellent resource.

His 73S found its way to a guy here from Dallas as I recall. I forget his name but haven’t seen him post in a long time… lived near White Rock lake.

As many have written, Angela is the one I miss - she just had a way that made me and many, many others smile.

I regret not taking the time to meet her and Steve, her family.

What a fine person.

Update:
In May 2021, I sold the Part 135 company that I had started with a business partner. He took his share and bailed. The guy who purchased the company made me an attractive offer to stay on as the Director of Maintenance and as a floater pilot.

The catch is that I had to move with the company. To Alaska.

So here I am in Alaska, lol.

I still have a gig with the company in Kuwait, also.

In December they paid for me to get NVG flying training and the FAA sign-off.

In February they paid for me to go to Bell's training facility for 429 transition training.

Next month I have to go to TN to conduct an acceptance inspection on a new 429 that they are buying.

Then in Sept I will be going to Bell again for 412 field maintenance training.

I expect this will all culminate with a trip back to Kuwait in October.

The Alaska operation has had a lot of delays in getting operational. I'm sure it will all happen at the same time I am trying to do the Kuwait stuff, making everybody unhappy.

Cash, can you give me a hint as to what you’re doing in both Alaska and Kuwait? Thanks

Yeah - nothing top secret, but there are some confidentiality issues. Both are helicopter EMS ops. HEMS

In Kuwait, our company manages the helicopter maintenance for the Kuwaiti's national HEMS operation. There is a lot more to it, but this is a public forum and that is all I feel comfortable sharing. (I have been admonished before for sharing too much)
This is their facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lifeflightkuwait

The Alaska company is a startup EMS/SAR company called Alaska Guardian Angels. As mentioned, I am the Director of Maintenance and a floater pilot.
This is their facebook: https://www.facebook.com/alaskaguardianangels/

During the 2020 COVID scare and lockdown, there was no travel back/forth to Kuwait. I had time on my hands, so I took a short-term gig flying a Huey in Palm Beach County, FL.

Forgot this achievement earlier..... earned my seaplane license in Oct 2021.
Please pardon my girth.

Lake Spenard?

rusnak 07-29-2022 05:27 AM

Damn cool flying stories !!!

I think you ought to consider writing them all down.

jhynesrockmtn 07-29-2022 06:55 AM

Cool stories. My son has talked about using his GI bill to learn to fly helicopters when he gets out of the Army.

What happened to Matt/onewhippedpuppy? He would know what is happening with the new Bronco's!

fanaudical 07-29-2022 07:56 AM

Cashflyer, you're living the dream! I wish I had gotten into flying long ago.

Nobody has mentioned Dottore yet. I always found his posts interesting.

Baz 07-29-2022 07:57 AM

Funny this thread came up again.

Anyone remember Craig - the avocado grower - who at one time had that viper green longhood? He has a Mastiff and would post in the dog thread. I'm afraid last time he was posting his Mastiff was having some health concerns.

Probably a good place to post this. Haven’t seen Vash posting anything in the last couple of months. Did I miss something?

That was CraigT. I went shooting a few times with him and fly fishing with him and Jim (lowyder993 who's also been missing). Craig was retiring and moving to South Carolina. Jim retired and moved near Reno.

Vash is probably taking a break from the madness. Unfortunately Dottore passed away years ago, I also enjoyed his posts and humor.

Scottmandue is another who has gone MIA. Another who's humor I miss is Burnin' Oil.
