I'll bet that he still checks/looks at the forum.

Dottore deserves a mention.

and - i took Beygon and his wife out to lunch, in Vancouver.
he was an absolute gentleman. we stuck to the motorcycles, as a discussion topic. :)
we also went to the Trev Deeley Moto museum. he definitely knew his bikes.

Dottore passed away years ago. RIP.

What does Nostatic have against this place? I used to run into him in my LA travels, but he was probably still active last time I saw him.

I received my annual Pelican Parts "happy birthday" email today, so thought I would check in and revive an old thread.

Looks like I missed a 2023 update. Not much exciting goes on. Here is 2022 - 2024 combined:

Nov 2022 - the Alaska company received their helicopter for EMS ops.

I put it together after shipping, got it FAA compliant for operations, etc. I flew it a bit. Discovered that pulling a helicopter out into the -20 degree winter kind of sucks.

May 2023 - started having some health issues.
July 2023 - sold my Schweizer 300 and delivered it to Paso Robles.
Spent Aug - Dec 2023 pretty much in the bed wishing I would hurry up and die. Lost 50 pounds along the way.

Nov 2023 - the AK company lost the lease on their EMS helicopter.

March 2024, had a brain tumor removed.
May 2024, moved back to SC.
Jul 24, sold my house in AK.

Jul 28, turned 56 and logged onto Pelican.

I don't currently fly because I don't currently have a medical. I am working with doctors to get that reinstated.

I have moved into a non-flying management role with a helicopter EMS outfit in Nevada, working both remotely and monthly rotations on-site. And I still work the Kuwait side-gig.

Currently driving a BMW 540 that is fitted with a supercharger, but I am kind of wanting back into a Porsche. Maybe a Cayman S. They look like fun.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1722202998.jpg

That just sucks!
Thanx for the update.
I am happy you are still with us.!
Time to buy more helicopters?
Cant quit now!
Me- pulled a psychiatric nerve in my leg / hip
My body has been through many broken bones, but this may be the worst pain I have ever been in
.
Tis weird- for no obvious reason to be seen from the outside.
Just starting to walk again and use a clutch!

Island911, where are you?

Hey Cashflyer, man I hope this winds up being a better year for you. I am sorry to hear about your health issues. I am sure getting back into the cockpit will be the best medicine for you. It’s what you do ! I got grounded in 2004 (medical) and thought it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. I shifted gears, staying in aviation…from the management side. Everything worked out fine, a bit of a learning curve, but fine. Be strong my friend !

gwmac 07-28-2024 02:12 PM

JP Novak?

stevej37 07-28-2024 02:45 PM

I wonder if Maxim is still alive?

Probably 10-12 years ago I had a flight to Baltimore and ended up getting together with him. Colorful was a very good way to put things with him having two ladies snuggling up to him the entire time and his smoking a joint from time to time. Was good to see him in person and hope he survived!

I think I remember CraigT messaging me asking about Hilton Head. Is that where he wound up? Haven’t seen that green 911 around here!

Tweeze is still alive and well here in Phoenix. I see her posts on FacePlant often and she is just staying busy until the kids leave the nest!

Update:
In May 2021, I sold the Part 135 company that I had started with a business partner. He took his share and bailed. The guy who purchased the company made me an attractive offer to stay on as the Director of Maintenance and as a floater pilot.

I did 14 years of Medivac and looking back was the high-light of my career. Wish I was younger would head up to AK and fly with you guys. Did almost 20 years in the "sandbox" and hope to never return there again!

If you need help with your medical, please message or email me. Good friend of mine is a long time FAA AME and his focus is "special issuance medicals!" I had an issue and lost my 1st class and 5 weeks later had a fresh one in my hand. One of our copilots went to his regular FAA doc and it took him SIX MONTHS!

Yeah, it's a shame about Todd. Someone that I didn't think we'd see again that last posted 10 days ago multiple times in the thread below, is Motion.

Heck no. Too much money for insurance and maintenance. I still have my Cessna 182. Cheap and easy.

Those psychiatric nerves are tricky. :D

I miss flying but I'm making more money in the management side. Money isn't everything, so I will work to get my medical back ... but I doubt I will go back to the pilot side. Just fly my Cessna for S&G. Or maybe post-maintenance flights & repositioning flights for the company helicopter.

I spoke to the people at www.leftseat.com
They told me to expect the process to take 6 to 8 months. Time to gather documentation from all of the doctors that were involved in my care, and then processing time from the FAA side.
