I used to buy repos and flip them in the '80s. One was a 1977 MGB in red, in beautiful condition. Not the best year and had those big bumpers built into the nose and tail. But I remember a shop called John Bull tuning the distributor on it. Helped a lot.

The kit I’m talking about is a bit more up to date. Not a fan of their fuel pump setup, since I think it should be at the back where the original FI pump mounted rather than hacking up the engine bay, and the manifold is from a different guy, but this gives you the idea. https://www.rat-co.com/tr-4a-5-250-6-products/fuel-injection |

Well dang. I should've been diligent in checking messages here on this forum. Turns out a man named Tad Todd messaged me back in September that he had my old TR6 and was listing it on Facebook Marketplace. Damn, if I had known, I would've bought the car back on the spot!!!

Ouch. Sorry you missed out. Maybe he can point you to the new owner and get in line when he decides to sell. I’ve watched ads for my 71 Carmine 6 for years to no avail.

I'm not a fan of the look of the TR-6, but I am prejudiced by an early life experience.
When I was a kid my friend's dad had a TR-4 that I thought was the absolute coolest car in the world.(this was before I discovered Porsches). That "Power Bulge" on the hood is what did it, plus his dad was so cool. My father had no interest in karting (or anything else involving his children), but Eddie's dad would take my kart to the races for me and help me in the pits and loan me alcohol and caster oil - love that smell. Which has nothing to do with TR-6s. Sorry.

I would think if you could track down the current owner and offer market value or more, you could get it.

Pics and description from the FB listing. The car has acquired a dent or two over the years, I didn't do that, lol. I did however dent the rear bumper which is still there dent and all. I put a bumper sticker over the dent that said "Life's a Beach" and there is one on there in the pics that says "Happiness is a positive cash flow". I seem to remember putting that sticker on there as well. There is a sticker on the driver's side rear bumper over rider that is from when I put a Monza free-flow exhaust system under the car and I put that sticker on there, that was in 1984!!! I love how in the description, it is mentioned that the frame is solid, yes, it would be. I sandblasted that frame to the bare metal and we used Rustoleum primer and Rustoleum gloss black to paint the frame. The frame came from a 1973 parts car. The engine block is red, I painted that and I painted the air filter housing and valve cover black, this is all present in the engine pic!!! The car still has the badge on the grill, that was on there when I bought the car, and it still has the Union Jack tag on the front. My Dad got me the tag, a key chain with a Union Jack on it, and a pair of deer skin driving gloves when I graduated high-school. I wonder if the keychain is still with the car? Basically this thing is much like it was when I sold it. I lived at the beach and the salty air had started to take it's toll. Anyway, I just want to find this car again. So close!!!

Can you see if the VIN can be accessed with DMVs in states near you?
I found this searching the VIN, which I'm sure you've done. There was a bad phishing link in a "Continue" tab. https://www.triumphexp.com/registry/1976-Triumph-TR6-CF51849U.67211/

Thanks, that looks like the same pictures and description from the FB Marketplace listing. I have several people that have messaged him and left my phone number to contact me. The car has sold, but I would like to see about contacting the buyer and discuss if they would be interested in selling the car. Fingers crossed!!!

Fantastic news. Mr Todd got in touch with me today. He sold the car to a man in Thomasville, Georgia and is going to ask the man if he can pass along his contact information to me so that we can discuss the TR6. I told Mr Todd to feel free to pass along my contact information also. Mr Todd sounds like a really good guy for sure and I thought I would share what he texted to me. I sold the car to a man in Tallahassee, then he sold the car about a week later. Mr Todd bought the car from a person in Monticello, Florida, not far from Tallahassee, where it had been stored since 1998. The car then went to Lake Park, Georgia and then sold to a man in Thomasville, Georgia. I find it interesting that the car has not traveled very far and is only about 3 hours away from me. Wow!!! Hoping to be able to strike a deal and be reunited with my Redcoat!!! Big thank you to the Pelican that sent Mr Todd a link to this discussion because that is how he and the car found me.

This will be very cool if you can re-acquire your TR6! Hopefully the current owner can respect your sentimental connection to the car with a reasonable price more than his need for it.

Thanks guys. Man, I know it usually isn't a wise thing to bring emotion into buying a car but dang I would love to get her back. I still have the paper tag and paper key tag from when I got the car. I also have the driving gloves dad got me when I graduated high-school, the front plate dad got me is still on the car as well. I hope I hear something in the next few days or soon anyway.

No. The listing was at $2800 but I have no idea what it actually sold for. I saw in one post that the price had been reduced so, maybe it was listed for more and then reduced to $2800.

Certainly looks to be worth at least that much. Don’t pass it up over a few hundred bucks. Good luck.
