Do you have to download an app to keep records, or just register?

Got today's in 3, took about 5 minutes.

Internet magic. They must track as I have never registered and it has my stats after every game.

Thanks for sharing this link. I gave it a try and am one-for-one so far - always feels great to get that first win of the season! Took two, maybe three minutes to get this one, although I kinda doubt they'll all be like this.

I approached this like a combination of Wheel of Fortune and Jumble: chose an initial word that used up two vowels and three of the most commonly used consonants. That got me three letters, albeit incorrectly placed ones.

Word number two: I ignored the three correct letters (avoided them, actually) from the first guess and entered a word that used the other three vowels (no, I haven't forgotten sometimes "Y") which gave me a fourth letter, this one properly placed.

Now having four out of the five letters, I treated it like a Jumble and, voila` ... got it.

As I said, I'm sure they won't all be this easy, but I'm interested to see if my approach continues to work.

My first word is one with three vowels and two common consonants. If I don’t get much of a hit on that, I use a second word that has got the rest of the vowels in it and two more common consonants.

Today, I got zero hits on the first word and my second word was actually the correct answer. Go figure…

Ocean
Syrup
Fight

Those all use discrete letters, all of the vowels, and 60% of the alphabet.

Sometimes you don't even need to get to "fight" to solve the word. It takes a very weird word like GOLEM, to stymie that approach.

I’ve done about 75 of the old ones in the archive and I have found that they don’t use very many unusual words.

I start with “raise,” then I use “mount” if I don’t get more than a hit or two on the first one.

Sounds fun - but like veganism it apparently triggers a compulsive need to let all your friends know about your exploits... I had to ban 10 facebook buddies because I don't give a flying $$%% about their wordle achievements - posted daily. They're so proud.

Annoying, I started this last week after seeing this thread. Didn't do it over the weekend and now I see my winning streak has reset to 1, as having missed the weekend it's counts that as missed days. Wish it would base it off the right/wrong ratio, not if you can't, don't go to the site.

Lol... Wordle has touched a nerve!

I had the same reaction after not attempting a couple of days and my streak was reset.

What chaps my lips is when I finally get it mostly figured out, but there'll be two rhyming words that'll fit in the spaces. I've chosen wrong three times now; that means three 'fives' that could have been three 'fours'.

Dammit, Janet!

I used to watch my dad do the Jumble every morning. The method he used was to solve the answer for the cartoon and then solve the jumbled words. It only took him a few minutes because he'd done it for so many years. He knew the idiosyncrasies of the puzzle author and was never stumped for long.

^^^ That's a good strategy for Jumble.
If you don't immediately see the words...move on.
It's a great puzzle game.

The first of the possible words that I use always seem to be technical in nature.
Example, the other day I had entered Hoist & Joist when the answer was Moist...

I’ve learned (the hard way) that you want to start with the simplest, most common word first when in that situation.

I was wondering about this game since it’s all over Twitter. Decided to watch a YouTube video just to see what it was about.

So it’s basically “Lingo”, loved that game show on GSN back in the day. One of my favorites. Might have to try it out

This thing is incredibly addictive! And can be also very complicated sometimes. My husband can seat for hours playing it and after just opens a word finder website https://word-finder.com/word-scramble/ and looks for an answer there. I don't understand what is the point of game then but he obviously likes it. In my opinion it is just cheating, nothing else.
