I forgot what a great song that is. A solo version:

Sadly, the Takamine F-400 12-string I bought new in the late '70s is hard to play, and frankly, the tone isn't that great after being re-strung. I saw that Mighty Fine Guitars had a 21 year old Taylor that was in excellent condition, and it plays and sounds night and day better (so I grabbed it). It's a bargain compared to the gold standard Guilds.

Taylor 355 12-string 2001 — Mighty Fine Guitars

While there, I saw this chart. It looks like the work of the owner Stevie Coyle. It helps.

Turns out, he's the fingerpicking instructor at Peghead Nation. If you're in the SF bay area, he's an amazing guitar guy to chat with (on Thursdays-Saturdays).

Pleased to see the progress on the "strat" build. Our resto paint shop brought the body by for inspection. Porsche Viper Green to match my last aircooled build. Needs a couple of touch ups and then good to complete the build. Will have a black pick board and hardware.

The shine is epic...... The guys finishing the guitar body do our early 911 resto paint and body, they "get it"...

Ordered this at the onset of Covid. I'm not worthy enough of a player but have fun. Some here will understand it's inspiration.

Cheers

It's relic'ed down the cigarette burns and 1971 quarter. It's the version he used in the Jump video with the Kramer beak headstock.

Since we're on the subject of guitars, I thought I'd give a plug for this guy, James James. Great tutorials, not simplistic but on the money if you work a little at it.

And he did many other videos as Privettricker. I think he's had to hang it up lately but he's got some chops. Two good channels to subscribe to...

Hi. I have been sick and I’m on the mend. I’m very excited because I’ll be buying an Eastman E D20 acoustic very soon. I played one several years ago and it is built as close to a Martin HD 28 as possible thousands cheaper. I play finger style and have owned my James Goodall for many years. I love guitars. Will be fun to have another after so many years.

The acoustic strings I changed to a few years ago are called DR phosphor bronze rare. I use the gauge called 11’s. So lighter gauge. Not expensive but very bright and they last longer. I get them from just strings.com. Play like glass if you do finger style. Or anything. I wing to back.

I got the hankering to get a parlor guitar and went to check out the PRS SE P20E, which is inexpensive. It was okay until the guy suggested I try a Taylor GS Mini, and it was OMG nice. Tried the spruce w/rosewood, mahogany, and finally the koa. It was like the mahogany, but with a noticeable ring to it. I'm surprised guitars this nice are this affordable, and this thing begs you to pick it up and play. Koa guitars always look different, and this one is just fun to look at. I'm going to put a black pick guard on it that comes on some of the other ones- I can live with a little less koa to look at.

After I impulse bought it, I looked at some reviews. These are like the VW Beetles of the guitar world. Taylor makes more GS Minis than most manufacturer's make in total. I also found one being played here:

Beautiful Steve,

I love Koa. I have a taylor Koa and a Prestige Koa where I got to pick the wood that went into the instrument.

That one you picked up is amazing. Interested to hear your thoughts on how it sounds. KOA has a unique sound as a tone wood.

Beautiful guitar, if you ever get tired of it and want to sell..... PM or email me

Cheers

Love the Gibson like yours, great guitars. The "moustache" bridges complete the look as well.
