I got a bike few years ago, an older K75, nothing fancy performance wise compared to modern bikes, but still no slouch.

I used to have a 40 cc as 16 year old.. but the K75, I was fine and happy crusing at 90kph, but I was NOT comfortable on highways doing much more then 130kph.

I didn't have the Situational awareness that I have in my car with 3 mirrors and head on a swivel.. You just don't have that ability on a bike with a helmet on yer head, its not the same, i'm sure younger guys are braver and get over confident much faster.. But I sure as hell didn't .. I sold the bike after a year or so, it was fun on backroads, but to much of a hastle getting heavy clothing on and off for each drive... and in summer it's bloody hot.. stop at the lights 5 secs and yer sweating. the appeal of summer riding , i don't get it.. and i'm not dumb enough to ride in jeans and tshirt.

I think a big part of it is the very wide angle on the lens makes it look like there's way more space than there really is. Makes the other car look farther away so makes it appear there was more time to just back off the gas. At that point of the ramp, you're not really looking for someone to make a left turn in front of you, so there probably was a bit of lag in reaction as I was looking ahead. Once past the slow traffic I was accelerating... probably running along at 65 and she was probably doing 30. I pulled left so as to not put my Jeep into her bumper. Had I not pulled left I would have hit her. The ABS was doing its thing but not at a fast enough rate to keep the two vehicles from sharing the same space. The whole thing was way more dramatic/violent in reality than it appears in the video. After, my girlfriend and I both discussed how truly close it was. Reviewing the video, it certainly doesn't give that feeling.
fair enough, but the response time was slow tho, looking ahead is one thing, but a bit of spider sense in the perifiral vision is no luxury these days

I've been running a dash cam for years and yes they do make you slow down.

A cop friend told me to make sure I'm not the one speeding in the video.

Yep. She did a good job. Those that want to defund the police need to see that badass old lady take one for the team.

Have had camera's in both of my daily drivers. Have used them several times when someone does something stupid on the road!

Was that a Mustang?

Bullit perhaps?

Nah, the first police car tried to tap it from the side and spin it (that is why this cop took it headlong). If it were a Mustang, it would have already been sideways...or broken down.

Then I guess it makes sense, no indicators when changing lane.
And no mittigating circumstances , it really was the driver at fault

Lots of great info about Dash Cams, software and hardware.
- And guess what, they're all pretty much the same under the skin.

I suggest it.
Traffic law enforcement is not as it was. Now, drivers scare the heck out of us. They run stop signals and signs. Go around me on the right shoulder. No turn signals. Tail gaiters. Road rage is getting more common. Here in Sacramento with all the Cart Zombies, they get run over at night.
Every morning on the local news, someone is run over. They never say the truth that it is a homeless poor soul. Just a pedestrian. Lame. A camera is a given with the lawlessness on these roads today.
CYA.

It looked like she pulled over and then slowed down in front of you actually. Reaction time could have been better but it's not something people should normally expect or have to. Good save either way. The alternative result is a waste of everyone's time and money.

About a month ago I approached an intersection with larger vehicles and a moving van blocked my view of the crosswalk. The light turned green and I slowed way down to not pass him on the right side. Something was off. The van still hadn't moved after about 3-4 seconds of green light. I stopped instead of keeping my momentum. Good thing. Sure enough some punk college kid walking a bicycle was taking his ol sweet time. When he crossed in front of me I put my hands up as in 'what are you doing?'. He then stopped and just stared at me blankly. I honked a toot and he finally finished crossing the street giving me the finger as I drove by. It was his day to fight the entire world on drugs or something. A lot of drivers would just cruise through a green light and splatter him good.

This is pretty much what I have figured out before, when I was looking for a decent camera system. It is sad that the industry can't or wont sell a true quality dash camera for any price. Bottom line, image quality is the number one feature every driver really cares about. To have to go to a Go Pro is still the best option, and it is not designed to have the dash cam features.

I found the same thing in home surveillance cameras. For the most part, crappy image quality. I want one like in the TV shows and movies that I can zoom in and read the logo on the shirt of a person, or see the expiration date on the license tag at night, in the rain!
