Well - I'm wondering where the flight attendants were, who are supposed to maintain order on the plane.

I'm not advocating an atmosphere like Catholic school and nuns whacking the kids on the knuckles or anything - but this pinhead was drunk and disorderly and clearly acting as an asshat. You'd think someone on the flight crew would notice and do something.

I'm in Mike's corner on this one - respect for taking care of this clown.....

I've seen similar, but no punches, and the attendants will avoid the whole situ. One flight, after everything had calmed down, the attendants would walk past the guy....but never look his way.

They just want to get them off the plane...asap.

This is off the topic and I do not want to derail this thread, but I follow every single instruction I receive from people like police officers and fight attendants. People who do not immediately follow their instructions should go immediately to jail.

What?!? That's crazy. They can't tell you what to do. Tell 'em to eff off and get in their face. That's the way to do it! (except Mike Tyson. Probably better off just saying, "yes, sir," "no, sir," "thank you, sir" and/or not making eye contact with that guy. :D

I can’t really blame some flight attendant for not wanting to get in the middle of that one. They don’t get paid nearly enough to risk injury and it’s not part of their job description.

You know what I find interesting, Denis? I would never even think of bothering Iron Mike or any other "celebrity", nor would you.

When I was traveling mega miles I was always upgraded to First and sat next to some folks we would all recognize. I never said a word beyond hello unless they did. But that is standard for me regardless of celebrity or Joe is 36D..

However, I and was shocked, shocked I tell you, that no one recognized me.:cool:

I’m not a big shot like you so only traveled 1st class a couple times but I saw Ivana Trump on the Acela a few times. Never said anything or acknowledged her. She’d sit down in the quiet car, open her laptop and get to work. But just like you, I was surprised she never said hello to me.


I’ve got to think that plenty happened between the drunk running his mouth and Mike correcting his behavior that the flight attendants could have intervened in. There’s missing video.

I’m not inclined to blame Mike on principle and I’m hopeful the missing part of the video will exonerate him.

His name -- Melvin Townsend, III, and this isn't his first encounter with cops, by any means. He's been convicted of fraud, grand theft, burglary, possession of controlled substances and trafficking in stolen property.

As for specifics, the 36-year-old broke onto a property in 2018 and stole a trailer that he hitched to his pickup. The drug possession offense was for oxycodone. Official docs don't mention other specifics. He served time twice -- one for 20 months and another time for 15 months.

I think that I told you a long time ago about my connection to MT, we were really good friends for a while and still would be but I never see him anymore. One of my buddies worked for him, mostly driving him around LA and we all hung out a lot with a group of friends. He’s the nicest, most interesting guy and while not educated, he is quite intelligent. He can be hilarious…like side-splitting. I’ve talked to him about everything under the sun.

It would take quite a bit to get him rattled like that, he’s used to fools trying to get an easy paycheck from him putting hands on them. He has nearly 40 years experience with it. He used to have a body guard to prevent these situations, at one time it was a friend of mine who is a massive Samoan dude who is sweeter than sugar but can also handle any physical situation. I once got pissed-off at someone annoying him and he said, “we need to get out of here before Denis chokes this guy.” You have to imagine the lisp…pretty funny. :D

OK so I'm going to disagree with you guys. I'd have been OK with Tyson turning around and grabbing a handful of the guys shirt while issuing a VERY stern warning, but bashing him like that was not the way to handle it.

^^It certainly wasn't the SMART way to handle it for a guy probably trying to turn his financial situation around.

Yeah, the guy is a prick and needs a whoopin', but not smart to do it in public, on camera, etc....

Granted Tyson should have better control himself but we don’t know what happened between the initial taunting and the beating nor do we even know how long it was. We go from the a**hole sitting behind Tyson with no reaction from MT to a video of the beating taken by someone else from a different angle to the dumbass sitting there bloodied but responsive.
