A sad day
Today I actually cried. Because I sent two of my cars off to Cars Dawydiak in Marin County to sell. I'm selling the Tristar and the split beetle. I've had the Tristar since 2006 and the beetle since 1985. I didn't expect to cry. They're just cars. Not people. But I guess I love those cars, anyway.
I'm selling them because I've had them long enough, but mostly to finance the construction of a cabin up in the Sierra near Bear Valley Ski Resort. Also, one gets tired of the maintenance. I'll recover. Especially when I get those big checks in the mail so I can buy roofing, etc. for the cabin. Am I the only one here who got so emotional when saying goodby to a car? ![]()

Don't worry, the money that split window will put in your pocket will turn that frown upside down.

Those are beauties. Can you provide some details on them, like what year is the Beetle? Are they going to a consignment dealer?
Those are not average cars and I can definitely understand your attachment to them. Plus, VWs have a special pull for some reason. I’m having a hard time deciding whether to cut loose my 1980 Scirocco that will never get driven. |

I didn't actually cry when the new owner drove away with the old E,, but I did get a little misty.
I only had it 11 for 11 years. Best Les

Bear Valley is beautiful. I have family all through that area. Best of luck. To your question, I only regret selling one automobile, my 1994 Defender 90, one of 40 imported with an aluminum hardtop. My kids wear me out about it as well ![]() Just looked at prices: I'm crying now!

Yes you do. I thought about you and that Irish green beauty.

The Tristar is an '89, one of 500 syncro Tristars built by VW. It came to me from Sweden. They will be sold at a consignment place in Corte Madera called Cars Dawydiak. Walter Dawydiak has sold three cars for me before, and he always gets a great price. He's a car guy more than a car dealer.
