Rainbow had some good songs but what made Deep Purple great is the combination of the five guys that were responsible for their best albums. Richie should’ve never been such a pain in the ass.

Musicians came and went and did other things but those five guys created something unique.

Machine Head was, to my detriment, the best album ever made. Driving around in the Datsun 510 drinking, with it playing on the 8 track... The best of times, the worst of times...

How many of you geezers still have an original vinyl LP of Machine Head in your collection from the 70's ?

Don't know what happened to my older sister's albums that I was blasting on my parents' console stereo in the mid-70s... when they were away . Machine Head and Made In Japan were slap worn out.... she had excellent tastes in music.

That poor, poor stereo.... they've still got it....

The albums pulled a vash tho'... poof, gone !

I had it on vinyl. One day in the 80's I decided to get rid of all of them...cassettes had taken over.
I remember I had them all loaded in my car to sell at a local record store for $1 each.
I had a Olds Cutlass and the back seat would not hold all of them standing up...from door to door.
