I've had 3. 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations. Now a Tundra. Ya I'm a fan.
Hopefully the next gen will have a V6 Turbo like the Tundra.

Do you have the Tundra with the V6 Turbo?

I have a 2015 Tundra I bought new in late 2014...136K on the ticket and is rock solid and steady. I don't plan on getting another one but I am interested in the V6 Turbo, just in case

When I bought the Tundra I was working between two companies I have a share in, one in NC and one in Yorktown, Va. I racked up a lot of miles early. Easier, cheaper to drive rather than fly. Weird but true.

Now, with the 1996 LC my DD, the business in NC now almost exclusively commercial and the Yorktown group only sees me me twice a month for a total of four days, the Tundra stays parked...I may, for the first time, time out an oil change rather than hit the mileage.

Again, my vinatge Toyota's, I go back to 1990, are fairly blunt instruments but we, as a family, have over a million miles clocked on these things with one roadside issue, an alternator on my daughter's FJ.

I have the 2016 with the 5.7. Hopefully it will be the last truck I ever buy.
2 Corolla. 2 Celica. 3 4Runners. 1 Tundra. I've had a few Toyotas.

1 Corolla, 80’s version I commuted into DC with for years. 4 speed manual.
An FJ-40 as a kid.

They may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I’m in. I keep cars as long as possible.

Best? Depends on the usage, maybe. Which one have a like the best? The 1987. 22R-E, 5-speed...simple and awesome.

My daily for 120k miles was rare UK spec. Gen 2 Toyota 4Runner 3.0TD 5 speed manual. Best car I've ever owned. it's rusted off the road but I just can't bring myself to let it go

Also have a 1988 1st Gen with the RE22 engine and 5 speed, still not registered after I smuggled it out of Italy on false plates

My next car will be a Toyota Hilux, waiting for the yet to be launched Gen 9 to go on sale, plan to have it serviced every year in different country as go bout exploring the world in it

We have a 2008 4Runner with only 112,000 miles. Great truck, it has been probably the best vehicle we have ever owned. Best part we bought it Christmas week of 2008 and the dealer had had a horrible month of sales in the beginning of the recession, price out the door was $26,000, no trade (we had given the Trailblazer to one of the kids). We've been thinking about a new one, but it's hard to let this one go.

Lifting with KDSS can be tricky. I did it myself due to the fact that those places that I inquired about having it done looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language when I mentioned it.

The big benefit was it got rid of the “nosedive “ on hard braking. Granted this was 6 years ago, more suspension places are probably familiar with it.

Here’s the kid’s.
Yes - I think he’s a pretty lucky kid by the way.

2007 with just under 230k. And a Wisconsin vehicle.
Spent a number of weekends last year straightening out and improving a few things.
5th gen wheels - nearly new. Bought for not much cash.
Nice bilstein’s, and refreshed sway bar bushings and end links.
Replaced fuel tank straps.
Typical fluids changed
Buffed and sealed headlights. Typical cosmetic stuff.
Lots of POR15.
New CV shafts.
Lots of swearing and cutting of bolts along the way…
Figured out how to get the 4WD Lo range working again (they stick when never used)
Last photo was “as bought”.
Drives really nice!

I have a Pearl White 2017 4Runner Limited, bought brand new and have put 70,000-miles on it. I will be going up for sale in a few months.

The Goods:

1) Toyota Reliability..only issue to date was one blown JBL speaker ($200)
2) Not bad looking especially with the factory 20" wheels - aged well
3) Well screwed together
4) Smooth shifting transmission
5) Does not require premium fuel
6) Decent interior space

The Bads:

1) The 4L V6 is extremely anemic and is underpowered
2) 19mp/g avg is surprisingly low
3) The ride is harsh
4) Boring to drive
5) The tech is average for one of the most expensive Toyotas, for example the quality of the back-up camera, ICE, mediocre vented seats, no lane assist etc
6) Oil changes are overly complicated

Overall, not a bad truck.
If you love driving, this is not the vehicle for you, if you need a good all rounder to get the job done, then it is.

I feel like Toyota were watching in the wings to see what their competitors were doing instead of leading the pack like they used to do. This could have been an incredible truck, but Toyota stopped at the 75% mark.

I have resisted modifying it so far. I actually only have about 17k miles on it as I mostly drive my Land Cruiser, but...I am about to bite the bullet and do the suspension because I really don't like the soft ride. I like the spring rate and lift customization that Dobinsons offers.

That's a nice looking rig! You will notice a big difference changing out the suspension, as I mentioned earlier no more "nosedive" on braking.

The other thing is you still have your Trail/ Off Road wheels. When I purchased mine everyone and their brother were switching them out for thr TRD Pro wheels (to the point that there was a shortage and backorder) and selling the 4 new Trail wheels for $500-600 on the 4Runner forums.

The thing is the Trail wheel is sturdier, 1/2" wider and has a protective area around the valve which the TRD Pro doesn't have. I just think it's an all around better off roading wheel.

My neighbors son just graduated from HS and is taking a semester off before he starts school next year. He and his Dad are both surfers (as is my daughter) and they are in California in their Quigly seeing the sights...mountains on the way home.

I think this is a 1995 his son bought that is perfect. I helped him neaten it up, get it right.

We rented one in Oregon in June and liked it except for the slow acceleration.

I liked enough that it helped me decide to order a new Tundra
