Aluminum RFID blocking wallets.

I notice a lot of stores pushing these as Christmas gifts.
Most that I've seen are around $25-$50

Are they worth using one? Where do you carry it?
I can't imagine the back pocket would work.

Now that those tap n go cards are nearly ubiquitous, I'm thinking I should get one. Prolly just sit on it as always.

I looked at the Ekster and holy moly $89 for a wallet is steep.

Heavy duty aluminum foil works just as well and conforms to your butt easier.

stevej37 12-02-2022 12:26 PM

I can just imagine pulling a wad of aluminum foil out of my pocket to pay a cashier. :D

Sitting on something like that doesn't sound comfortable to me. I don't have much extra padding back there.

Pocket? n'no, you keep it under your foil hat. ;)

stevej37 12-02-2022 12:38 PM

^^^
It wouldn't be for me.
I only take a cc and drivers license in my front pocket when I travel.

^^^ I was looking at those on Amazon.

How do you carry yours?

The ones I see in the Dept. Stores are a much cheaper quality looking.

stevej37 12-02-2022 03:00 PM

It would be like sitting on a tuna can.

I don't think that would be good.

Dash Wallet

stevej37 12-02-2022 03:45 PM

^^^ How can the 'Dash' work as well as an aluminum wallet?
What's it made of?

It says it's an RFID wallet...but it also says it's made of canvas.
What am I missing?

Reynolds has a "Make a Hat Kit" for those do it yourselfers who may want to make a quick jaunt to the market.

^^^How is that gonna stop the scanners when his wallet is in his pocket??:D

The scanners are everywhere.

Just protect the important bits. This is my credit card in it's blocking cover. All our credit cards have chips and can be read within half a meter or something.

^^^ Never seen one of those for sale.

The ones at the stores are all aluminum.....and are not bendable.

The scanners are everywhere.

By the belief alone in the power of aluminium whole body protection can be achieved.

sc_rufctr 12-02-2022 05:56 PM

These wallets are being sold using "fear"... That alone makes me skeptical.

stevej37 12-02-2022 06:01 PM

My local Menards had a whole end-cap with a sign saying 'Protect Your Money'
They were priced at $26 each.
