3 Moth T Bills $$ cost avg in monthly...4.27 %..safer than anything else...3 month horizon of risk...then you get you $$ back to repeat..
NOTHING ELSE IS AS SAFE AT THE MOMENT.. Blow me wt the FDIC...i bin through that in 1990...not enough money to cover a run...it is a placebo..

I've been buying a lot of longer term yields (up to 10 yrs) well north of 5%, with most of it call protected. 5 yr CDs @ 5% (with CP) seem to have all lost their CP over the past month, but the yields are still good tho' I've passed on them so far. It's not windfall $$$ for me .... so preservation is my mode and I've still got a LOT of shopping to do in the next few months. Don't want any more houses, land, Porsches, hookers or blow

Hookers and blow are excellent investments.
If you don't need the money, then put it away. Using the usual investment criteria. Don't buy anything right away.

Do you buy your T bills at Treasury Direct? Do you bid non-competitively? Do you buy a particular dollar value at any one time (I know there is a min and max). Since rates are high, wouldn't a longer term (like 6 months to a year...or even longer) be a good bet (expecting lower rates eventually)?

Pay off any debts and if you're debt free I'd invest it in physical gold and silver. No stocks or bonds will be safe shortly

Bitcoin was about US$13 in 2012. To say if you'd put 75k into it then, that you'd be rich now, would be an understatement. You'd have roughly 5700 BTC. In today's money at $16k, you'd be worth around $92M

Nothing feels better nor lasts longer than the good feeling of paying off debt...........
No debt? Second rule of finance is "never underestimate the power of cash"........... but like authority, cash only has value as long as you use it sparingly......... Or go be a fool like 99% of the population, and blow it on something stupid. Finally: go read this thread............ Lotsa wisdom here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/1131076-being-poor-has-nothing-do-income.html#post11866513

There are other legit sources. Australian exchange, Independent Reserve is what I use. I've made large deposits and even larger withdrawals and no issue.

At this stage in my life? I'd buy the nicest low-miles 997 I could find for that amount.
