$5.55 pg to fill up the old Gladiator today. That’s 87 octane. Luckily I have motorcycles to ride.

RNajarian 09-23-2022 07:15 PM

Just as bad out here . . .

Amazing that CA is over $2/gallon more than say TX
Especially with all those green CA electric cars.

Bas up to $5.75 today. We'll be taking my wife's EV for a ride up to a winery and looking into some antiques stores after lunch today. Don't know how much it'll cost in terms of electrical charge, but I'm sure it's less than driving a gas powered vehicle.

^^^
Blue-gills are only $4/lb here. :D

JackDidley 09-26-2022 09:14 AM

$3.64 for premium today at Sams.

sduser 09-26-2022 09:43 AM

$6.59 for premium in San Diego.

There is a popular app called Optiwatt for Apple/Android that will tell you this. I charged yesterday from 27% (64 miles) to 96% (278 miles) for $4.81.

Scott. That looks like two & a quarter cents per mile to me, if it was a 214 mi. trip for a cost of $4.81. I've yet to totally charge my wife's car at a fast charger. Sometimes we hook up to a charger for a little while somewhere it's free. Otherwise we charge the car at home. We left today with a stated charge of 243 miles. I estimated we'd have about 25 to 30 miles of charge when we got back home. I miscalculated a bit & only had 17 miles of charge left. I've never drained it down that far.

We charge my wife's car against the 10% of excess power production from our solar panels. I went from 2016 to 2020 without paying an electric bill and sold the excess back to the power company at 2 to 4 cents per kW. So I'd get maybe $100 back for 3 mW of power. Last year was the first year of charging the car at home, & I had to pay $288 for the extra I used for that year.
P.S. - Our electric rates are one of the highest in the country.

How much did you pay for your solar system and the installation?

That is a low cost way to get around. If I had to commute much at all, I would have na electric car. Since I don't even start my car to walk down the hall to my office, I just can't justify one. That, and nothing will get me to sell the 911 as long as I can drive it, and that same for the El Camino, so the electric car would have to sit outside as my wife's Macan is in the third bay of the garage.

golfnutjtl 09-28-2022 09:14 AM

$3.09 for regular this morning by my house in Houston.
