Holding steady around the county,$3.65 past week.

Tervuren 10-28-2022 06:40 PM

You ain't from around here.
This thread is for some people to post every time they see it go up, and for other people to post every time they see it go down.

I can look at the last posted person when it gets a fresh bump after building some rust and have an idea if it went up or down.

I think there is a linkage. You hear oil is going up and a little while later gas goes up, but it takes longer for gas to go down after oil goes down.

....

I agree .... historically, and with a caveat as to what I've noticed. Gas prices have (in general) aalways shot up like a rocket upon any disruption, as stations have always cited their "replacement cost" as justification, then it floats back down. And there has always been the "we make .02 per gal." myth... nope.

What I've been watching is different areas (like Vinny & I for example), moving in opposite directions .... and the disconnect between areas... some being 2x more.

My conclusion.... they charge whatever they do.... because they can, and it's not tied to the price of oil/bbl like it used to be.

Lots of folks are being "bent over" at the pump imo.

Exactly what I have been saying forever. They do it because they can.

Paid $3.11 for regular for my truck today.

stevej37 11-01-2022 01:05 PM

$3.62 for reg
Been at that price for a few days now. If it settles at that price...I'm ok with that.

KFC911 11-01-2022 01:34 PM

My goto station has remained at 3.12 (almost always the lowest for years), but I did notice a sister station is now back at .25 higher driving past it today. They get their fuel from the same company truck... and just a few miles apart. When my goto jacked theirs up months back ..... they were the same for a while.... Like most in the area.

Meanwhile the 4-5 big oil companies have just posted record quarterly profits of 50 Billion, and that doesn't include the middlemen and local stations...

Gouge, gouge.... Cha-ching, cha-ching ....

Because they can ....

rfuerst911sc 11-01-2022 01:38 PM

Bought diesel today for 4.799 and regular unleaded was 3.039 . This was in Cleveland Georgia at Ingles grocery store .

stevej37 11-01-2022 01:56 PM

Doing some ciphering here...

My go-to beer is $9 for a 4-pack of 16 ouncers. A 4-pack equals a half gallon.
Which makes the beer $18/ gallon.

So....for $18 I can get a gallon of beer or 5 gallons of gas. Makes the gas look cheap.:)

KFC911 11-01-2022 02:33 PM

LOL... My gas contains more alcohol than my beer does too ;)!

stevej37 11-01-2022 03:14 PM

The general rule is that the higher abv beer is the better buy.:)
Not the same with gasoline....the diff between reg and prem has grown to being absurd.

Racerbvd 11-01-2022 03:54 PM

Noticed gas is up .20 gallon around here.

I was talking with my Jax buddy ... did a temporary gas tax elimination expire in FL?

My goto station just dropped a bit to 3.09, as the price of oil increases .... the disconnect between pump prices and oil seems to continue... here and everywhere imo.

Because they can... and no station is losing $$$, and some make bigly per gallon....

stevej37 11-05-2022 03:27 AM

Back up to $4.25 for reg here.

Baz 11-05-2022 04:45 AM

$3.40 here yesterday filling up the '97 Volvo 850 5 speed estate wagon......

I'm driving down to Key West in my Jeep tonight. I'm gonna get plowed in the butt with fuel costs...

My trip this summer was expensive for gas. This was the worst of it.

The 911 uses premium. The hotel room was $300 a night to boot. Gettysburg was worth it however. It was great to see the memorials and actual battle sites I had read about all my life.

My buddy who has a place here and also a summer place in Highlands, North Carolina has been commuting by air. I think he mentioned something like under $100 round trip.

Sometimes he comes down for just a week to get stuff done, such as post Ian cleanup.

That's a long drive for just a week stay - and like you said Vinny - expensive fuel-wise.

He has vehicles in both places so doesn't need to rent a vehicle - which is probably different than your situation.

At any rate - have fun and stay safe my friend! SmileWavy

Yeah, im seriously considering bailing. Its double what it normally costs me. Only issue is, I lose my hotel costs, which are $$

I usually make a few stops and visits there and back, so its not just a single destination.
I stop to see my kids in Apopka., so thats part of the trip.

This is a normal trip ive been taking this week for 25+yrs. Might be time to put an end to it... :(

.

KFC911 11-05-2022 08:20 AM

Hey Vinny, why don't ya use gasbuddy and plan your fuel stops ahead of time to reduce costs? You might find that every state & station isn't gouging like others... Fill-up at those even if you're not on empty yet. I usually never refuel on the Interstate stations even if I drive a mile or two off, some states have lower taxes, etc.

Take your trip Vinman.... You've earned it :)!
