Down a couple cents to $3.72 today.

The gas stations are the busiest I've seen in a few years. Almost impossible to drive up to an open pump. Pick a line to wait in and hope the driver doesn't go in to buy lotto tickets.

JackDidley 07-31-2022 06:44 PM

$ 3.81 today at Sams. +.57 for premium.

Evans, Marv 07-31-2022 09:37 PM

I got a great deal on gasoline at a reservation station in a fairly desserted area of Riverside County, CA on Firday. #5.499/gal. I was so happy.

stevej37 08-04-2022 11:33 AM

$2.99 next week?

tadd 08-05-2022 05:16 AM

$4.89 for diesel yesterday in MD.

stevej37 08-05-2022 05:31 AM

$3.59 today for reg here.

Bob Kontak 08-05-2022 06:20 AM

$3.37

Sooner or later 08-05-2022 06:37 AM

$3.19 -down the street. Was $3.35 on the 30th

Maybe the illusive $2.99?

rwest 08-05-2022 01:18 PM

$3.99 in the metro area of MN this morning.

SCadaddle 08-06-2022 08:21 PM

Chevron regular 3.45 in central Mississippi. Same station, premium is 4.75.

stevej37 08-07-2022 04:41 AM

^^^
$1.30 diff between the two??
Our diff is always 60 cents.

I'm just now back from getting gas...$3.56 for reg.

Dan J 08-07-2022 07:29 AM

Why buy premium? Any car I own with knock sensors is getting a steady diet of regular
I've been doing this for years with no issues
The other day I was next to a woman filling her Toyota SUV with premium I told her she was wasting $20 she said it ran better:rolleyes: Ok sure

stevej37 08-07-2022 07:32 AM

^^^
Both of my Hondas have bright yellow stickers inside the fuel door. 'Unleaded Premium Only'

That's plenty of reason for me.

A guy is filling a beautiful MB with regular at the same Speedway I have been quoting prices from. I ask does that take regular? He says no but his friend owns a Mercedes dealership and he said you don't need to use premium.

Said he had been doing it for years.

$3.29

stevej37 08-07-2022 09:50 AM

^^^ But how can a guy who paid prob 70K or more for his car skimp a few cents on the fuel?

I don't know.

I gotta think some performance is left on the table even though the car will run.

VINMAN 08-08-2022 09:57 AM

Up 4 cents here this morning...

.

JackDidley 08-08-2022 11:11 AM

Sams today had regular for $3.51 and 93 for $4.09.

^^^ Looking at Gas Buddy...I see a bunch of OK stations under $3.
Which you will be tomorrow, I guess.

rusnak 08-08-2022 04:24 PM

My dealer buy price is $3.81 today. That's without paying taxes, freight, merchant services (credit card processing) or armored car fees, sales and use, underground tank storage tax, etc etc. Street price is therefore $5.11 which includes $.87 in fees and cost of sale. Margin is around $.30 which goes to pay fixed costs and return a profit over break even, which is probably in in the neighborhood of 150,000 gallons a month for a full size gas station.

stevej37 08-08-2022 04:26 PM

^^^ Which state?

rusnak 08-08-2022 04:35 PM

^ central California. So Cal and SF Bay a whole 'nother matter.

Paid this just outside of San Mateo last week:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660042648.jpg

Surprisingly, the price of gas was all over the place in the SF Bay area. Anywhere from maybe $5.11 to $5.95. Shocking for this East TN boy. My local station this morning was $3.49.

rusnak 08-09-2022 09:56 AM

The state tax increase on the gas excise tax, and huge increase on diesel sales and use tax caused pricing to go haywire on July 1. The gyrations are good for the alert gas station dealer. Pricing has settled down now, for the most part.

lindbhr 08-09-2022 11:15 AM

Last week we drove from Houston to Santa Barbara. As you’d expect prices generally increased along the way. In Santa Barbara there is a 40cpg up charge for using credit. Or if you like, a discount for cash making it 5.71 for SUL.

stevej37 08-09-2022 12:56 PM

$3.49 for reg here today.

Bob Kontak 08-10-2022 03:12 AM

$3.25 this morning.

Sooner or Later must be getting close to $2.99. Edit: I see the gas buddy post.

Sooner or later 08-10-2022 03:28 AM

Not quite. $3.04 at Sam's and $3.07 at Walmart.

pete3799 08-10-2022 05:54 AM

$5.299 for diesel yesterday.

VINMAN 08-10-2022 06:55 AM

Wow, what a bargain! I can take that 4 week vacation to the Maldives now...

tadd 08-10-2022 08:46 AM

$4.75 for diesel this morning.

stevej37 08-15-2022 01:20 PM

$3.48 for reg today. The price hasn't varied much from that for the last week.
If it stays there...I'm happy.

GH85Carrera 08-15-2022 01:39 PM

$3.33 for corn gas regular. I never use that stuff. I get real gasoline which is available here.

Steve Carlton 08-15-2022 02:02 PM

$5 to add 170 miles of range to my EV.

stevej37 08-15-2022 02:25 PM

^^^ My Propella will go 60 miles on one charge.
Not sure how much one charge costs me...but it's about the same as charging a smartphone. :D

tadd 08-15-2022 04:11 PM

Diesel was $4.50.

JackDidley 08-15-2022 04:27 PM

$2.81 for 87 in Henderson K. today and $3.33 for 92 octane. Sams in Indiana was $3.41 for 87 and $4.08 for 93. Going in the right direction, I think.

Enjoy it while you can. Saudi Arabia is cutting production because of the Strategic Reserves release...meanwhile, we are quickly emptying the Reserves. What then? Also, what about natural gas this winter?

Now, is there a strategic reserve for bacon and eggs so we can get a dollar off of those. Breakfast prices are now crazy.

Given the SPR of Louisiana and coastal Texas is in underground salt domes, I reckon the bacon would cure nicely. :D
