It still has the orignal rear shock towers and transmission crossmember which were the give away. I just recognized those.

"Do you have what it takes to work at renegade hybrids?"

"Yes. Yes I do." Bob mused.

Doesn't jibe. Except for the quality of the interior. There is bright yellow over-spray on the rockers. Not a single missed spot on the following pics.
And those tin can 'reinforcement' pieces 'welded' in. ho lee cow. .

The boxed rockers being the frame and the rear crossmember gave it away for me. But still i was thinking that cant be right.

Andrew15 (remember him) put a Nissan V6 from a maxima in a 914 and I raced it at Watkins Glen and Brainerd… there were issues but it was a lot better engineered than this POS.

230 HP in a 914 was very, very nice.

Here, hold my beer while I go out and put a SBC in the rear of my Jag. It's got plenty of room.
No, make that a FWD Northstar Cadillac. I won't need a drive train.

There’s a guy down in GA with a Lexus V8 in his 914.
Looks good in there - and the car scoots.

I have seen several small block Chevy engine swaps in a 914. Not one handled worth a damn. They would accelerate hard in 2nd through 5th, but first was unusable.

It is a lot of work, and really makes for a mostly crappy car. No doubt a few have done it right. The Factory built two 914-8s with a 908 engine squeezed in there, and the museum still has them.

In the end, it is just a car. An abomination of a car, with a V8 in it, but just a car.
