exactly, it's unfortunate that the posters were morons and the podcaster felt like he had to consider/respond to/deal with them at all. I'd have probably ignored them, but then I'm not a successful podcaster.

When I was in jr high in '59 everyone was saying 'like' just as they use it now. Another one that disappeared for 4 generations was. "Way to go." But then we used words like square too.
"That cat is really square." Not so much the cat though. That was too hip for us.
