Damn Romeo's a big dog, Dennis. Big in the photo, big in person too.
As for Bush, I think we can figure out his game plan, or maybe I can: give a huge deficit to a Democrat to handle in 2008, that is if Bush makes it in 2004. After that, in 2012 (if any of us are still around), the public will be pleading for another Republican. Pretty cool.

Sorry, no, didn't mean any of you.
I was just testing my new "auto-response" feature on the board here, whenever a good "whatever happened to the flash/wave" thread, or a political thread where my colleague Tabs starts lecturing occurs I hit the "My dog thinks......" button.

Here is some information from a washington post story about how our military has been kidnapping the family members of people they are looking for in iraq. http://www.unwire.org/UNWire/20030728/449_6972.asp Quote:

Okay, so "kidnapping" I'll buy, kind of. . .but you said "kidnap and torture " . . .what about the torture?

Hmm...All's I see is "U.S. Colonel David Hogg said the army is using tougher methods of intelligence-gathering, citing as an example the U.S. abduction of an Iraqi officer's wife and daughter in order to convince the man, a lieutenant general, to turn himself in. Hogg said the wife and daughter would have been released; however, the man turned himself in (Thomas Ricks, Washington Post, July 28)."
I don't see nothin' about no torture. Frankly, I prefer this method: "Any man I see out there, I'm gonna shoot him. Any sumb!tch takes a shot at me, I'm not only gonna kill him, but I'm gonna kill his wife. All his friends. Burn his damn house down." Now that's a deterrent.

Whoops, I almost forgot. While the military will not admit to it openly like they do the kidnappings, every now and then home movies and photos let the undeniable the cat out of the bag.
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=FB0F16F63C540C728FDDAC0894DB4044 82 But since everyone does not have access to the NYT here is a free copy. http://www.iht.com/articles/98104.html If you need more just try using a search engine and typing in words like 'iraq us troops torture'. Its not like I have some magic power when it comes to keeping up with the news. Keeping up with the major news outlets around the world can do wonders for your understanding of the world and greatly differs from what our leaders, our government and their mouthpieces we call the major media have to say about it. Just look at the first legitimate news story I get on the subject when I type that in. http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1004821,00.html |

Wow, I was reading all the stories that popped up on that search and I found another sad link.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/07/20/iraq/main564095.shtml It sounds like a lot of Iraqis are having to deal with the same kind of opression or worse than what they had to deal with when Saddam ran the place. |

This is certainly an article that is certain to have an effect on readers who have empathy for their fellow man regardless of race, creed or nationality.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A13718-2003May4?language=printer Reading several articles on the subject remind me while I usually try to distract myself from the realities of the world through the escapism of working on and driving high performance automobiles. |
