Congrats! It sounds like you got a good one! When I was looking, I looked at boxsters and cayman, 986 and 987. They are all great to drive. My personal pref is for a manual, and even the missus can/would drive a manual. I'm sure the tip trans is great (for an automatic) but it's still an automatic (not like a DPK). I ended up with an '08 S so a 3.4. It's nice to have the extra oomph. I assume the 3.2 is probably similar to the 3.4 in that you can almost drive it like a V8. Run in through the gears and then put around in whatever top gear is for your speed without having to shift. Not that I do that much. But on the most roads, if I decide to pass, I don't normally have to downshift if I'm not in the mood.

Hmm, Pelican must be broken again since I don't see any pics in this thread....

It just dawned on me. Maybe I’m late to the party. The box S is the middle point between a Box and A 996 base. I previously thought of it as a higher performance Base. After driving a bit, It’s feels like a sports car but more power like the 996. It doesn’t feel as quick but once it gets moving it’s faster than the base. The 5 speed of the base is something else. Wish the S had that. Not as fast as the 996 (not much off) but definitely more nimble. Feels lighter. In the m96 world, I think if you want a GT, get a 996. Fun sports car, get the Box. A splash of both, get the S. Having driven them all, their all dam good cars.

The Boxster is an excellent chassis . Refined and nimble and practical with two trunks . The S being a step up in power and suspension. Creature comforts that work and plenty of safety built in . It is an undeniable bargain in the Porsche world .

I also own a 996 C4 . It's a 99 so in my mind the last of the modern cars that still has a raw feeling to it . And while bigger than my last SC it is still a relatively small car . Excellent performance and also well balanced .

I enjoy driving both cars . I rarely get anywhere near the limits of either chassis . Enjoy driving yours it looks like an excellent example .
