Are you looking for an RV lot? When I was there last week there was one available for sale with a great view. There’s also a couple of cabins for sale as well. It’s a great community. Probably half the owners are from Alberta.

We headed out to Tsutswecw Provincial Park (formerly known as Roderick-Haig Brown provincial park) to view the annual Sockeye Salmon run that takes place this time of year on the Adams River. We weren't sure what to expect as it was very close to the area affected by wildfires earlier this year. Unfortunately the park with it's multiple viewing platforms was largely destroyed...really unfortunate as it was a really great experience seeing the thousands of fish back in their birthplace.

We headed further north towards the affected area and took some pics but we didn't want to be THAT GUY so we limited the number of stops along the main road. We saw utter destruction from the fire between Little Shuswap to Magna Bay. There would be about a dozen homes totally burnt down with a few pockets where homes remained untouched followed by more fire damage for some 15 kms.:(

Most residents have vowed to rebuild...good to hear!

The exterior is almost complete. The interior painting has begun. The fall colours are in full swing on Shuswap Lake!

Thank You for your comment Seahawk!....I really appreciate it 'cause....I ain't gettin much luv from fellow Pelicans here...feel weely, weely baaad and so,so...saaad...:D;)

Ya, the view really does.....SUCK BIG TIME! :p
We're actually really looking forward to being there in the off season as there are a world wind of activities to take part in (skiing, ATV, snowshoeing, Ski Doo, etc) in the area. Having only the RV there since 2007 we would typically winterize her and the boat in late October, not to return until April-May. Unfortunately it's a 6.5-7 hour drive from Calgary so it's not conducive to weekend trips. BUT....look at whatcha get!:p

2porscheguy 10-22-2023 04:13 PM

Going back to Tsutswecw Provincial Park...pronounced "choo-chwek"...it is from the Shuswap Secwepemc First Nations...pronounced "suh-Wep-muhc". The term means "many rivers". I was last there about 5 years ago. It was quite the experience seeing thousands of the fish return to their birthplace to spawn, and then unfortunately, to die. We came quite late in the season and so the river banks were littered with rotting fish carcasses. You can just imagine the smell...very powerful to say the least! I swear that I couldn't eat salmon for a couple of months after that!!

I don't have any pics but there are some really cool videos here....check it out!SmileWavy

'Twas merely a very tall tale! :p The siding crew had their scaffolding secured with that line.....it just looked so, so ......inviting, let's just say!:D

BUT could you just imagine what the "terminal velocity" would be if one was built on this slope and with about a 100 foot drop off to the lake below?!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!:)

Let's do a quick roughtimation: 1/2 mgh = 1/2 mv^2

cancel the 1/2's and m's: so v = sqrt(gh) = sqrt (32.2 ft/s^2 * 100 ft) = 56.7 ft/s = 38.7 mph Weeeeee!

2porscheguy 10-23-2023 11:15 AM

^^^Thanks for the calculation David! or 62.3 Km/h...sounds......faster! It's a short double black diamond run fursure!

Even at 38 mph that's a hell of a SMACK!!

riddle me this plz...if falling then KE = -mgh so why 1/2 mgh? Bear in mind I'm a chemist/musician so be kind.

Oops, you're right: mgh=1/2 mv^2 so v = sqrt(2 * 32.2 * 100) = 80 ft/s = 54.7 mph WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
