agreed. "Blade Runner" is an absolute masterpiece. The story, tone, acting, direction are all masterpieces. Rutger Hauer's "tears in the rain" speech (after the brutal fight between him and Deckard) is pure poetry.

the only thing Steve mentioned was (tongue in cheek) how sex with Ana De Aramis and McKenzie Davis is a win-win no matter how one interprets it. But nobody would expect you understand that.

CG has sort of killed that. Saw a hobbiest version short ofva car chase that was not bad

My brother has the director's cut of this flick on some high end video disc blue Ray maybe, and a giant TV. I don't think he has ever said no to, want to watch Blade Runner?

I think good CGI surpasses good modeling. Nothing beats live action when it's possible- look at what Tom Cruise brings to the screen. One reason 2049 is so good for me is that they used a lot of the same talent that contributed to the original. The top reason I like 2049 is the quality of the continuity, the characters, and the story line.

I was watching this video and discovered there were 3 prequels to Blade Runner: 2049.


Denis Villeneuve asked some artists to make three very short prequels to set up the background in his 2049 sequel. The first is a 15 minute well-done Japanese animation explaining how the blackout took place Black Out 2022:


The second and third were directed by Luke Scott, Ridley's son, each 5-6 minutes long. The first sets up the Neander Wallace character getting permission to make replicants again, played by Jared Leto in 2036: Nexus Dawn:


The third sets up the discovery of Sapper Morton, played byDave Bautista in 2048: Nowhere to Run:

My parents took me to see blade runner in the theater. I was just starting 7th grade and it was amazing and seriously the best thing I’d even seen. But right after Zohra was killed my mom decided that was enough. They asked if I wanted to go and I didn’t… well too bad and I got yanked from the movie.

Some movies hit so hard when you’re young. I just thought the look and feel and music was so cool at the time but didn’t realize how amazing it was until I was a lot older and seen so much garbage.

I didn’t get to see where the movie was going. I think what hit hardest was the look and feel - all the concentrated wealth corporate power enabled by politics and a population that’s lost hope.

To this day I can’t believe the movie was made - what a beautiful labor of love!
