Tone Deaf Test
This non muscian old fart with hearing problems scored 10 out of 15...hey, it's "above average"...barely.
Kind of fun..

Like most things in life, I remember the days of youth and fantastic hearing. I used to go and drool in the Sears Tool department looking at all the great tools I really wanted, or needed. I would walk around the store with my fingers in my ears because their intercom system had a very high pitched tone or squeal. It was horrible. One manager came over and asked why is it that you kids come in here and stick you fingers in your ears, is it a new fad? I told him there was a horrible squeal from the intercom system and it hurts my ears. He of course said there is no sound at all unless we are using the system.
I told him to bring any normal hearing kid back there and let them listen. It took them several months and they did finally get it fixed. I have tinnitus now and I just am used to a constant tone as there is no fixing it.

Like Glen, I have tinnitus so I don't bother with hearing tests.
It sucks, because I love music. But on the other hand, I can ignore people yappin' about stuff I don't care about and blame it on my hearing!

I also have Tinnitus and have hearing loss and from my dad's side of the family. I find no joy in taking hearing tests.

Note...this is NOT a hearing test. If you can hear musical notes on a piano you can do the test. It's about being able to recognize music notes and chords that fit together well or not..

Exactly what I missed. Sometime in the past few years, we had a thread (have had a few actually) about tinnitus. During some surfing about it triggered by that thread I came across a site that had, I think, about 8-12 different tinnitus sounds. Mine is, to me, fairly innocuous. I think it's a very high pitched hiss or whistle (I think up around 10-11khz). It doesn't bother me, and I don't think it impacts my hearing all that much. But I guess what other folks call tinnitus could sound very different from how I experience it.

I listened to each question once and then answered it, missed 14 & 15. I was kind of shocked, thought I was tone deaf and can't hear very well generally, the wife is way better.
I don't know if it helps or not, I think it does but I picked up the guitar at 64, 66 now and the guitar has become the biggest "regret" in my life. I love it so much, just regret not picking it up 45 years ago.

63 years young, and missed #15. That said, I do wish I'd paid more attention in band when in school. I can read music and play the trombone and saxophone, but with only the

The title of the OP is tone deaf test. That is a red flag to me.
I did take the test. I got 14/15 correct. I got number 15 wrong. I have had ear and hearing problems from childhood. I can't remember any time when my ears weren't wringing. I remember taking an audiology test when I was in my mid 40s when I learned I had hearing loss. The audiologist said, "I bet you have wringing in your ears." My response was, "doesn't everyone?" I'm 73 and my hearing loss has gotten worse. I love music and I'm sure the sound isn't as clear as someone who doesn't have hearing loss. Interesting test. Thanks for sharing.

13/15 last two got me. So, what's the tone deaf scale -2, -3, -4?
I'm tone deaf to the frequency women and children speak. |

Missed the last one, but I do play piano and guitar. I was also losing interest near the end. I have a short attention span.

14/15.
My hearing is crap and I am not musical but I can hear the difference in notes easily. I got the happy/sad question 11 wrong and was second guessing myself as I wrote down the answer. I have had tinnitus for longer than I can remember and currently have been enjoying a tinnitus spike in my left ear...

12/15. One of those I was wrong on. The other two - resolved/unresolved - I think are subjective.
