One year circumstances were such that it was just FBII and me. So, I did a Tapas dinner for the two of us. It was very good but tradition always wins.

I wasn't imprinted with thanksgiving food as a child so it has always seemed boring to me. I think it'd be great if I was actually starving. Maybe I'm just missing the gene that makes people like bland food.
This year we're doing the turkey because some people care, but we're also making a bunch of 'good stuff': Here's the potato dish, the red is from the seeded kashmir peppers: https://hebbarskitchen.com/authentic-kashmiri-dum-aloo-recipe/#recipe_card_for_kashmiri_dum_aloo_recipe And also making about a bajillion of these using aged cheddar instead of gruyere: https://joythebaker.com/2013/11/fresh-herb-and-gruyere-puffs/ |

One test of the level of friendship you have with a person from a foreign country is how much they share their opinions about Americans, thanksgiving and TURKEYS. Sarcasm and jokes abound.

Have had many Turkey dinners but as I get older not really craving it anymore.
I prefer lean proteins, so eating light and having Shrimp and veggies tonight. Our Christmas tradition going back to the 50s has been a Dungeness cracked crab dinner. |

My son lives in a burb outside of Cleveland. Thanksgiving was at his house. I came a day early to help prep for Thanksgiving dinner. My DIL is a very good cook and I assisted with getting everything ready. I brined the turkey for 24 hours just in salt with a bay leaves and peppercorns. The turkey was bought from a local farm. There is a big difference between the farm turkey and store bought.

The finished product. Very good if I do say so myself. Flavorful and tender, looks like I have a new way to cook turkey.
