That's never a good bet even after Pole Day. If I had to bet, I'd take a Penske or Ganassi car. That's as far as I would go. Andretti is always due, but they don't have that consistency AFAIC.

The lack of software configuration status of a critical system is not very professional at the least and stinks to high heavens at the worst. The lack of span of control is there too.

So the team that has been dubbed Penske Perfect didn't notice? GM didn't notice? The only reason no one is talking is :
A - the drivers from other teams will eventually look for another ride including Chevy teams or Penske
B-the team owners wont speak because Honda has outright said they will leave before this debacle so they need Chevy
C- the team is a Chevy team- don't knock your supplier

Just like any scandal, the real truth is likely obscured by well crafted PR statements. "Accidentally" hitting the button for 1.9 seconds doesn't pass the sniff test.

This entire episode is strange at best. I'm not defending Penske in any way, but if you're going to cheat, why would you do it with push-to-pass - a system that is easily detectable and maybe even visible to the casual observer from the in-car camera?? It makes no sense whatsoever to do it. There are plenty of other ways to cheat that would be very difficult to detect and if anyone has the resources to do sophisticated cheating, it's Penske.

McL is the first that have teams in both I believe.

Didn't Haas (Carl not Gene) try it in the mid '80's with Beatrice backed Lolas, (with poor results)? And Mark Donohue died behind the wheel of a Penske in F1.

That is a tough question. American open wheel racing has taken many iterations while F1 has always been F1. Besides Donohue, Andretti is the only one I can think of AOW>F1. I don't have any knowledge of Hass.

F1>Indy style cars there must be a couple dozen.
