When we talked about pocket watches a month or so ago, your caring, tenderness and love for MJ was palpable and why you are such a wonderful man.

I remember the first time I met MJ and was staring at her. She asked if there was any thing wrong: Nope, you just look like my wife's doppelganger!

I wish you the best in these difficult times, my friend. Lean on me if need be.

Best.

I'm so sorry for your loss. 41 years together is a long time. I remember realizing one day that I had been married to Diana for over half of my life. It's now long since past that, but I still marvel at it. One day, one or the other of us will face this same loss, and I don't know how I would do it.

I took your message to heart and told Diana I loved her. My heart goes out to you.

Very sorry for your loss. You are a great man that was there with her until the end and fulfilling her wishes. Blessings to you.

Not sure if this will be of any help but after hours of thought of why I felt so empty when my daddy died (i still struggle with the concept) and I was giving the final goodbye:

"We will not miss dad because of how much we loved hin but because of how much he loved us"

I hope you find peace. God bless the two of you. Juan

thank you all soooo much my brothers..I’m doing ok I guess. Moments of joy that her long suffering is over and that I can now get on with my life, followed by moments of extreme sorrow. The house is way too quiet. I had the ugly cry yesterday. The boys are always with me and make me smile. My kids come in for a couple days tomorrow. We can have a group cry.
Per her wishes there will be no service, no obituary, no fuss. I get her ashes back on Wednesday and I’m shipping some to friends all over the country in places we have lived to be sprinkled in her favorite places. I’m planning a celebration of her life party probably early August when the Persied meteor shower occurs. She would like that. She is still with me though.
I’m not a religious guy but I believe in the spirit world. We have always fed the hummingbirds. I told her that when she left her shell of a body that she would come back to me as the first hummingbird I saw each year. The morning after she left us when I pulled back the drapes there was the first hummingbird of the season..,,,a female. She’s been back every day. Indeed she is still with me.

The hummingbird thing is close to home -- My wife of 42 years passed 6 months ago - so much of your story mirrors mine.

She will always be with you ---- that empty space will stay empty -you learn to live with it.
Celebrate your life together (seems you are). Like you I'm spiritual --I'm constantly reminded of how lucky I was --actually I am to have had the life I had with her.

This is not goodbye --- she's always there- she wants you to live your best life going forward -that honors her.
As much as losing her sucks -I suspect you like me would do it over again in a NY second.

Your story of the hummingbird was beautiful and touching. Thank you David.

Yes the hummingbird...

Well, I don't have the words. But I'll leave the start here in case they come to me.

Like many here, I am at a loss for words. May the memories of the happy moments fill your heart and the sadness fade away.
