That ‘64 356C is a nice car and about as close to a perfect comp for Jerry’s car being discussed on another thread, (about the overseas buyer), right down to the hot rod engine and the stock one on the shelf and included with the car, so $90k is the right price. :)

I have a question about bidding on B.a.T.

How does their system differ than that of eBay, where bids can be placed much higher than the current amount, but your bid only increases a set amount over the current bid.

Looks like on B.a.T. the increase required over an existing highest bid is $100. So if I place a $500 bid....does my bid automatically show up $500 more....or only that $100 more, until someone bumps it higher with their bid?

Hope my question makes sense and thanks for the clarification!

While I've never bid on bat, I think you're allowed to bid as high as you want and that is what it shows up as, your highest not the minimum bid over what it was before you bid.
I've seen bids on cars go from $xxxx to $xx,xxx in one bid.

Now on the Goodwill auction site, your bid only goes whatever the minimum bid amount is over the present bidders highest bid if it exceeds that bid. I have bid on that site and have lost a few and won a few as well.

As for ebay, my wife is usually the one doing the bidding there and uses the BIN on LGB train cars for the most part.

Thanks, Scott. I think you're right. So B.a.T. auctions more closely mimic what you'd have in a real live in person auction, except there's no one barking out "Can I get XXXX?"

Whatever a participant barks out is what the new bid is. OTOH eBay uses "proxy" bidding. You place the highest amount you want to pay and it will only increase the bid X amount at a time, dictated by others who place their bids.

^those are a real hot item right now, not really sure why. I can think of lots of ways to spend $800K and that’s not on the list.

Speculation is my guess.

I’m going to end up with a Volvo wagon one of these days, I just know it. Don’t need one, and the angel on my right shoulder keeps telling me I don’t want one, but the angel on my left shoulder keeps saying, “go ahead! You know you want to.”

Like so many brands.....if you choose the right one....they're fantastic cars, Patrick.

I was lucky enough to get my most recent wagon on eBay and it was located less than an hour drive away. The seller was also a dealer so I was able to get my temporary tag and new registration in hand the day I picked her up.

I wanted a stick shift mostly and one that still represented the original brick shape but this one checked so many other boxes, I feel truly blessed to have "bagged" - especially for $6k!

They are out there. You just have to keep looking - and it may take years - to find that right one.

I talked to a guy up in Ormond Beach a week ago who was selling his - same as mine except an automatic, older, different color, and more miles. It was in VERY good condition and he was only asking $2k. He's a professional mechanic and works at the BMW dealership in Daytona. Turns out he had chnaged his mind and decided to keep it and forgot about his CL ad. I wasn't inquiring about it for me - but for a friend.

Here's a nice 240 that just popped up on B.a.T. today.

It's already up to $10,240 w/7 days left.

This 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa is a running and driving project that was purchased by its previous owner in 2002 and stored for approximately 15 years. To prepare for the sale the fuel, ignition, and brake systems were refreshed, and various belts were replaced, according to the selling dealer. The car is powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six paired with a 915 five-speed manual transaxle and is finished in Black over black leather. Equipment includes 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels, front sport seats, an Eclipse cassette stereo, cruise control, a Clifford alarm system, and air conditioning. This Carrera Targa shows 173k miles and is now offered by the selling dealer with the owner’s manual, a damage-free Carfax report, and a clean Louisiana title.

Sounds fantastic and could be a sleeper deal for someone!

Honestly that’s a sad commentary on what Porsche has become. Allocated models to pander to their elite customer base. Ferrari 2.0.

Porsche Workshop Manuals
Current Bid: $1,200
Ends in 16:57:55

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/manuals-5/

(From the seller)

Hi everyone, welcome to the auction for my collection of Porsche workshop manuals.

I’ve been the temporary steward of these manuals for nearly a decade, and while it’s tough to let them go, I know they’ll be better off in a new home rather than packed away during my move. I’ve spent countless hours poring over the factory details on a variety of 911s, and this collection is a fantastic resource.

The set covers models from the 1960s to the 1990s, including early 911s, G-body 911s, and 930s (the rare Turbo Carrera book is a highlight), as well as the 964 (Carrera 2/4 and submodels). This is an essential resource for a serious hobbyist or a professional Porsche mechanic.

I’m happy to provide detailed photos or videos of any specific sections or pages. Please feel free to use the “Contact Seller” button to reach out directly with any questions. Thanks for checking them out!

This is why I splurged on a Powerball ticket tonight........

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-lola-t70-mk-iiib-continuation/

Should be pricey before the bidding is finished.
