My son has a high mileage 2004 LS430 for about 3 years now and he loves it. It’s my first real exposure to Lexus and it is amazing. Really solid car. At my annual Family reunion this year one of my great uncles showed up in a 2006 LS430 with 60k miles. A real cream puff. My son talked his ear off. Way fun, fo sho.

Baz- I hear you, and you know I love me some 90s Volvo, but dang, these cars rock all day. If you come across one on the curb being given away….don't hesitate.

The first generation Lexus GS was a pretty special car too. Built like a tank with either their legendary straight six from the Supra or a 4.3L V8. The IS300 was also pretty awesome, like a reliable BMW.

That’s actually a pretty cool car. I always felt like Saleen cars were under appreciated, that one has a pretty comprehensive upgrade package. I had a 2008 GT500 that I really liked but it generally still had stock brakes and suspension, not well matched to the available power.

'zactly...this Saleen was set up for the twisties with a nice brakes & handling package, combined with short ratio trans and a 3:73 rear end..

I had several supercharged Roush models, they were basically a stock GT with 625 HP. Their suspension and brake upgrades were laughable.

Just listed......same year as the first Volvo (145S) I bought after graduating from college in 1977.

This one's a coupe! Too bad about the single carb conversion. The factory version had 2 carbs. That's what the "S" in the 142S meant. The 4 meant 4 cylinder and the 2 meant 2 door.

British racing green loses something on a German car IMO.

But the one in my post is "Rainforest Green Metallic"......not exactly the same as BRG....

I'm not sure I would want it - I prefer my Speed Yellow () - but different strokes for different folks, right?

I had a 987 Boxster S in a little bit darker metallic green, it was a stunning car. Also super well optioned, definitely a custom build when new.

On the subject of vintage stick shift Volvo wagons.......how about a '76 6 cylinder 4 speed?

Currently sitting at $5,500 with 7 days to go!

What a beauty!!!

One-Owner, 40k-Mile 1976 Volvo 265 DL 4-Speed

From the seller:

Good afternoon, everyone!

I’m pleased to introduce another interesting automobile from the James G. Robinson Collection, this very cool 1976 Volvo 265 DL Wagon, a car that was one of Mr. Robinson’s personal favorites.

Mr. Robinson purchased this Volvo new in 1976, and it spent its early years serving as one of the family’s weekend and vacation automobiles. Unlike so many family cars that are eventually traded or sold, this one remained with him for the rest of his life. Today, with approximately 39,765 original miles showing on the odometer, it offers a wonderful connection to the Robinson family’s automotive history.

For those unfamiliar with the model, the 265 DL was a relatively uncommon six-cylinder version of Volvo’s popular 200-series wagon, powered by a 2.7-liter B27F V6 engine. Most American buyers were more familiar with the four-cylinder 245 wagon, making the 265 an interesting variation of Volvo’s famously practical family automobile. This example is also equipped with a manual transmission.

Years later, Mr. Robinson decided to give his longtime family wagon an entirely different personality. The Volvo was repainted in its original light blue finish and transformed into a surf-themed vintage beach cruiser, complete with a custom roof-mounted surfboard, factory Volvo roof rack, and whitewall tires.

The result is a wonderfully playful interpretation of what began as a practical Swedish family wagon. The light blue paint, original-style bright trim, steel wheels with Volvo hubcaps, whitewall tires, and surfboard give it the appearance of a vintage beach wagon that might have been right at home along the California coast in the 1970s.

What I particularly enjoy about this Volvo is that it wasn’t simply purchased as a collectible. It was part of Mr. Robinson’s family life, and he later chose to preserve it and give it a personality of its own.

I think this Volvo tells a particularly enjoyable story about Mr. Robinson. He appreciated important automobiles, but he also understood that cars could simply be fun. This one certainly reflects that side of his personality.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this unusual Volvo. As always, I appreciate your questions, comments, and bids, and I’ll do my best to answer any questions about the car and its history.
