Yup. It is still sitting in my shop… taking up space.

My shop my son works at just finished a resto project on a Polo car. I’ve seen it up close and it’s really, really cool.

The creations are incredible from one standpoint and absurd from another.
Well stated.

Another high priced custom car for rich folks.

Cool if you have the bucks. That is in the price range of a used RUF, which I would get if I had that level of liquid cash.

Nice to see that Benton is doing well these days. It took him a while to figure out how to tune my 912's engine as it was configured unlike any other he'd run into. Once he realized what it was doing he got it pretty much spot on except his seat of the pants meter was a tad lean on the top end carb setting. He still was impressed with it when he got done with it. My brother has it now. I've been hoping he'd get it going after going thru the brakes but it has been put aside for other projects he finds more interesting unfortunately.

I told my neighbor that its just carbs and its not that difficult and any old school European mechanic should be able to tune that car. Benton plays this game, with appointments only, waiting list, and charge thousands just to tune up an old car.

Its a pretty darn cool car. Priced at a point where many other pretty dard cool cars are available.

Dyno numbers look like they come from one of those magical British Rolling Road Dynos where everything makes a ton of power......

Cheers

I must say... I once owned a 68 912 (and earlier a 69 LWB). The LWB is alright, but...
A well tuned slightly breathed on SWB 912 is a *special* car..
The lack of fender flares, the light weight, the perfect balance with a lighter butt. In many regards, I believe I effed up spectacularly 5y ago when I sold it and kept the 72 911 instead.

yeah sure the 911 is the famous one, the flat 6 sounds great, but I sincerely believe a SWB 912 is the superior driving experience (admittedly with a big bore or something).. So i can see the appeal of the above (not the crazy pricing though), FWIW.

No matter now, the prices have all gone crazy so we're largely stuck with what we got, right ?
