That's what I did.

Modern?

I remember using my grandfather's gas can when I was still in the single digit age range. My dad used it for many years, and now it is mine.

Champlin Oil Refining company was started in Enid, OK. It closed 30 years ago. About half the time when I go to the gas station to fill it up again someone offers to buy it. Is is not for sale. I have been using since my dad died. I plan to give it to my nephew some day when I am to old to mow.

It works just fine. No need for a new one.

Amazon also sells a variety of these.

I have a less expensive one I bought from Walmart still in it's box for future needs.

Here is one I got from Amazon in use to transfer Evaporust from a 5 gal. bulk purchse into 1 gallon containers for easier pouring. Runs off (2) D batteries. Has an auto-shutoff sensor.

Later on, I used the same pump to pull from the 5 gallon motorcycle gas tank back into those same containers.

No more trying to balance and tilt a large hefty tank - and the subsequent spillage that ultimately follows.

Fuel priming bulb from the marine/RV aisle at Walmart, two pieces of fuel line and a couple of hose clamps. The one I have will actually start a siphon flow if the two containers are in the right relationship....

This is the painfully obvious and inexpensive answer.

They also have a nice lip on the bottom to aid in controlled fueling.
