You may want to wait until autumn. It's hot.

WTC memorial.
Or better - leave early. NYC is a human cess pool now.
I loathe going there and avoid as much as possible.

Flew into LGA at 12 today and got my rental car by 1. Getting to Jersey City from LGA was another story. What I thought was going to take about 45 minutes, took one hour and 45 minutes…Google maps sent me on all surface streets. I saw all facets of humanity and living. It wasn’t for me

I got to my son’s place just in time to turn around and take an Uber to Midtown and hop on the Manhattan tour boat. That was a great idea and I was able to see a lot of things from a different perspective. The tour guide on the PA was also very funny.

So, here’s a few pics from today. More to come tomorrow, when I visit the USS Intrepid and…?

The first picture is from the flight coming into LGA and the area where our son lives.

Little Rocket man. His office is just to the right of his head head, behind the first building.

His cat Empress.

I must live a sheltered life…. I’ve never seen so many elevator buttons!

The view from his apartment. I took pictures, looking down and up, but they didn’t do justice to the heights.

Our son’s apt bldg. He’s about halfway up.

The Concorde at the USS Intrepid.

Spent a good amount of time at the USS Intrepid. I took the guided tour and that was great, as we got up close to several aircraft and took the elevator to go from the hanger deck to the flight deck. Unfortunately the tour for the Concorde was sold out. Checking out the space shuttle was cool.

I was amazed at how small this spacecraft was. Gemini I think?

Grumman Avenger.

Ball turret for the Grumman Avenger. It’s not for the claustrophobic type.

I was able to walk around the exterior of the Concorde. It didn’t seem very big, and I’m not sure if you could stand up inside.

The line to see the USS growler, was probably about 45 minutes. Definitely worth the wait. Submariners had balls of steel. Every square inch is filled with pipes, valves, etc. The bunks looked very short to me, so I wonder if they limited the height of submariners?

In Mount Pleasant, on the other side of the Wando river from Charleston, we have the USS Yorktown and USS Clamagor submarine. Unfortunately, the Clamagor has deteriorated and you cannot walk inside it like you could years ago.

Next up was the World Trade Center observation deck. It was amazing to be that high. I was telling Little Rocket-man, the summer of 76, two friends and I went into the city from Westport. The three of us visited the World Trade Center and went to the top. I need to Google the heights of the old WTC and the new one. Either way, it was very high, With an amazing 360* view!

Dinner tonight, was Mezze On The River, A Mediterranean restaurant. I got the salmon and it was delicious.

I forgot the name of the restaurant last night in Jersey City, but I got a New York strip steak, that was fantastic.

Tomorrow, we meet for breakfast and then I’m headed to Westport for the day. Then when I get back, we will go to dinner.

Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to get a good hotdog or slice of pizza. Maybe tomorrow night for dinner!

I was hoping to see some museums, but I don’t think I’ll have time before I leave Sunday.

A few more miscellaneous pictures.

The tall thin building on the left of the building with the white diamonds, has been under construction for awhile, but is 6 inches out of level, so construction has stopped for now. Obviously, it’s going to be a very expensive fix, if possible at all.

Went to Westport, CT, or the class of 77 get together. Had a good time meeting new and old friends.

The get together were staged out of my friends house across the street from Compo Beach. I took a walk down to the two cannons used in the American Revolution(?). I didn’t see any Porsche’s, but there was a postcard made by Porsche around 1961, as seen below, at the cannons.

Tomorrow, it’s back to reality.

More evening pics

I'm only now seeing your photos, Big Rocket Man.........WOWzers! Fantastic!

Thank you for sharing them - your photography skills are VERY EXCELLENT!

I'm feeling quite patriotic after viewing them - so proud of what we've accomplished in our country. No wonder we are considered in such high regard internationally!

I'm sure there are many other countries with admirable accomplishments as well, but for now....I'm going to soak in what I've just viewed in your pics.

Look forward to more when time allows........cheers, Baz
