Corvette ZR1 - 1,064HP
I haven't owned a Corvette since my 1999 FRC when I was a sophomore in college, and dabbled with a Viper and a bunch of motorcycles before getting into 911s five years ago, but rumor has it the new Corvette ZR1 is going to have 1,064HP, which is suppose to be verified this evening 7:30PM EST.
Any thoughts? It looks pretty aggressive from what I've seen. Curious what the price point will be. |
If it's AWD and a computer transfers the power to the pavement then I guess a thousand horsepower is actually usable, but only on a race track or the Autoban
|
I drove a 2023 Turbo S at the Porsche Experience Center in LA and didn't think it could get any faster than that. Looking forward to the track times this thing puts out.
|
I recently rode in a modified 911 Turbo with 800hp. Outside of the track and bragging rights I just don't see the point of that much hp.
|
I'd be willing to give something like that a shot. The key to that sort of thing is being aware that it can bite you in the aß and being willing and able to slowly probe your boundaries in "safe" environments.
The most powerful car that I've ever driven was a 2001 911 tt. It didn't feel that fast. I did get to ride in this, and it was thoroughly impressive. Didier Theys was driving. He goosed the gas at low speed and I felt the blood rush out of my feet. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/BbBm-wXj5aE/maxresdefault.jpg I'd love to ride in an impressively fast street car (not driven by a moron/mustang driver). |

Then my other pals 2008 GT3-RS with 415 hp when the instructor was yelling at me to not slow down so much before the corners at Motorsport Ranch. |

Makes me think of my neighbor who goosed it in his viper straight into a bunch of trees. DOA.
My 80 sc with 172 hp was a joy. I guess I am not in the demographic for these. |

Sweet jesus that's a lot of power.
My C6Z goes from 0 to losing my license in less that 5 seconds |
A whole new generation of brand-spankin-new Vettes about to get wrapped up around telephone poles, in lakes and dismembered on highways, coming up.
Seriously, that's great and all but, really? It's good for bench racing and flexing online. About it. rjp |
One of my friends had a Viper with a few modifications too the engine. It was over 800 HP. He said that with autocross sticky tires at 60 MPH in 3th gear he could smoke the rear tires at any time. He never got to floor the throttle as the tires just spun.
Unless the vette is 4 wheel drive, and serious traction control, it will be a tire burning monster going nowhere fast. |
You guys seen the Viper run at Nurburgring video? Holy heck does that look like a huge amount of work to corral that thing. 1k hp in a rwd car....I wouldn't make it out of the driveway without body damage.
|
What I find funny is there are many modern motorcycles with a better HP to weight ratio.
|
I honestly don’t see the point. 400hp in a street car is plenty for me. My Cayman S has 325, suits me just fine.
