Its totally liberating also !!! At this stage in life, not having any ties, or having to answer to anyone is true freedom
. Im enjoying my time with my new friend, but I don't see myself letting it get too serious anytime soon .
Its funny, when my wife first passed, I was terrified of being alone . Now, I am terrified of losing my newly gained freedom. I dont have to answer to , or explain to anybody but my young son, God, and the tax man.
Nothing is off limits , and no body can tell me "no" Thats going to be hard to give up.

I've been interested in two woman I met on line who enticed me with their mind.
One an avid automobile enthusiast and one a Poet.
Both crazy liberals. Neither would rock the pageant circuit.
Both "relationships" ended because their liberal views painted a crazy picture.
Both smart but sounded stupid when they voiced their politics.
One wanted to argue the virtue of legalizing drugs to a drug addict with 16 years sobriety. It was based around the Colorado legalization battle.
We still tease each other online but the romantic attraction has passed.
The other one (my New York poet) was so liberalized that on a road trip up the coast (our first weekend away) I had to drop her at the train station in Santa Barbara so we wouldn't end up killing each other.
She ended up on my door step when I got home....yikes, I guess "no thanks" wasn't clear enough.

One of the most dependable indicators of a moron is that they always believe that whatever they are feeling is the way that everyone else is feeling about a given situation…sort of a false universality. Normal people know that there are a myriad of responses by people to the same set of circumstances.

A good example is someone thinking that single people are lonely and depressed…some are but millions are not. Or that having grandchildren is the ultimate reward in life, the lack thereof being a sad and terrible thing. There are others but these jump to mind from this forum.

Paul, I'm so glad you found someone to pair with for life. It often doesn't happen that two people are able and willing to adapt over the years, while able to respect another's boundaries while staying connected. A relationship should be complimentary and have mutual effort put into it to remain vested and committed.
