Let him get his confidence up and then WHAMMY.

Next time, try an elbow drop off the top rope. Seriously, this is why I still have one of those pump type Crossman air rifles. A few pumps at point blank would have done the trick. I used to do that to mice when they'd get behind my TV.

Btw, your description above made me envision that scene from Christmas Vacation where the squirrel was in the house.

The mice was the reason I bought a Crossman pellet gun to begin with. That was over 20 years when I bought this dirty old house. I couldn't catch that little guy so the air gun did the trick so no more mice for a long time until now. I think I left the back door open is how it got in. Since then I haven't used it since but on a couple raccoons. It didn't do anything to them, only to have them flip me off when they were shot. The CO2 was stuck in there due to lack of used in years. I was going out my my mind. Had it been working, my problem would have been solved. My wife even suggested I get another gun this morning. We are not going to have that opportunity again but I did oiled and fix the air gun just in case I get lucky when we meet again.

After I given some thought this morning, I was laser focus on getting this little bastard and didn't think straight while I had it trapped in there with my foot on the plywood. I should have ask my kid or wife to get the small pipe from the garage and heat it on the stove and burn that little siht to death. I had it crushed in there but the gap between the plywood and the wall was only about an inch. A small piece of steel or something even the handle of a ladle would have ended it. My wife was piss when I told her what I should have done yet she had dreams of the rat tail brushing against her face while she was sleeping. She was up for most of the night knowing the rat is still somewhere in the house.

Highlight of my life

Oh man that's rough. I got bitten by a spider one night in bed. From that night forward I kept waking up thinking I could feel spiders crawling on me. I went straight up chemical Ali on the bedroom. Washed all the bedding, swept, and then sprayed Ortho Home Defense around the entire perimeter of the room. Try the multiple trap set with small amounts of bait, it usually works for me when I get a mouse wandering around in the house.

I was bitten by a brown recluse in the middle of the night few years back. I posted pics of the decay on my forehead. My glans were swollen for a few days and the internet saved my fat ass. I ended it riding it out and didn't go to the hospital or doctor and considered myself very lucky. With my luck, and just happen to be go downstairs to the bedroom to get a tee shirt and saw something moved and there it was, the brown recluse. I smashed that thing so hard a dent was made on the stone floor. I made sure it was dead. No spiders since by a couple of small harmless ones.

His image will be forever etched in our minds especially my wife's. My kids were laughing their asses off when we had the rat cornered and it jumped over a board right on her leg (she was wearing short) as it was trying to crawl up her leg running for its live. She panicked let off one hell of a scream as she hit the rat off her. I stubbed my toe on the leg of our sofa and didn't even know it. The injuries this cause deserved to get it nose snapped off.

I'm not laughing at your situation, I'm laughing with it. Glad you got the bastard, the visuals of this happening to my bride is hysterical. A scream heard round the world.

Oh the visual of the rat hunt and your wife and kids! 😂
There is a crazy story of a bat in the garage at our old house. Omg.

Well, I tried Slim Jim as a bait some others were crowing about. The mice in my garage don't care a bit about it. Used it on some classic mouse traps and the mouse version 70SAT posted about. A big NADA. Not one bit of bait was touched. I've had the best luck with the sticky traps, but I'm afraid they might be getting smart about them now.

The rats and mice around here prefer Chunky Peanut Butter.:)

As long as you get "rat trap" vs "mouse trap" it should be big enough. I did a google image search for "rat trap" but that's not always perfect. It may be a mouse trap, but the two look essentially the same.

I've tried almost every kind of bait. None have worked well. For the ones they seem to like (like peanut butter), they've licked it off the trigger mechanism without tripping it. Sigh.

LOL! Reminds me of "You broke into the wrong rec room"...
