Wow! Woke up this morning to 15 degrees. Celsius, that is. All of our snow (only an inch or so) is gone. However we are supposed to be back to freezing temperatures by tomorrow morning.
As the jet stream does these exaggerated dips to the south, it takes Arctic weather down south and brings warm, wet weather on the other side. We got lucky, this time.

Yep. The sun broke through about an hour ago and the temperature is maybe 4 or 5 degrees above freezing. There was no frost in the ground so the rain we had soaked in as much as ran off. We even had a brief electrical storm around 6 AM.
Most of this storm came up along the coast just west of us.

When my wife and I lived in NY I bought a used 5hp Ariens 2 stage snowblower. That beast would eat snow and ice and spit it out all day long . I wouldn't say it was fun using it but I will say it was way more fun than a shovel :D . We moved south over 30 years ago , don't miss the winter weather one bit . SmileWavy

It's fun when a person hasn't been able to do anything outside for a month....lol
Sometimes, I shovel my whole drive, just for the exercise.
I had my neighbor question me last winter as to if my snow thrower was broken.:)

My truck and my Rav4 wouldn't have even known that snow was there. :D

stevej37 12-13-2024 04:16 AM

It was making my snow thrower work....but it was more than it looks like in the pic.

Well there's the problem. It's a YARD KING... not a Driveway King. I'd sell that sucker and get something to do the job right. :)

I don't know how old it is...but I remember buying it at Lowes for $399
I've noticed the prices lately....good grief!

A pic of the same stall of my garage from yesterday. Notice anything missing?

See! That looks like a tire vac or a trail vac to me not a trac vac.

Couldn't tell what was under the Carrera from the pic the other day.

That pic was last year...I sold the SC

What's missing is the 5hp Honda engine for the Trac-Vac
It's been a month and it's still not in....Honda engines must be hard to find.

I was gonna say the SC but knew you sold it. Just go get a Predator and call it a day. Or you can snag a Lifan which is another Honda clone. Both good options.

I stopped in last week and talked to the guy. He showed me the impeller/turbine that he welded up to fit when the engine comes in....He did a nice job.
I asked why the engine wasn't in yet and he said "they have been taking longer than usual time lately"

Oh well...I can't use it now anyways....I would like to get the thing out of the garage.

^^^ He probably has one vendor that he only uses for parts and engines.
I also noticed snow-throwers all over his place for repairs.

Did you watch the video in post 33
Not sure if you took that path back from Manistee?
