Ground is covered again...about 3 inches today.
Supposed to keep snowing till tomorrow night....and it's cold.

At this time of the year, we use black golf balls.

Just finished with the snow-thrower......about 5-6 inches that were packed in because of the wind.

I played year round when I lived in northern VA outside DC. Had to carry an awl in my golf bag sometimes in the winter to get the tee into the ground!

I mowed in a T-shirt earlier today ... last day of fall :)

It will be back into the teens by Monday morning...

Enjoy!

The system that was over Cape Cod this afternoon is supposed to visit us overnight and hang on for almost 24 hours. I've had the blower on the tractor for about a month now. It's time it earned its keep.
Disclaimer: if the storm goes south of us, I'm willing to give the blower the day off. :D

Wet lines on the road yesterday indicated impending snow/ice. Woke up this morning to nothing. If they're gonna spray that crap on the road the LEAST it could do is snow. I mean, all they're doing is increasing my windshield washer fluid bill if it doesn't snow.

Our County road crew goes down the roads plowing and spreading sand/salt mixture early each morning.
A couple hours later, another truck will scrape it all off the roads and spread more.

They seem to have an unlimited budget for snow removal.

I swear they have to use it or lose it. And our vehicles pay the price.

It was over 60 yesterday but our bridges and intersections have inexplicably been sprayed with snow/ice melt. I agree with the use it or lose it, our tax dollars hard at work.

oldE 12-21-2024 03:24 AM

Inexplicably? Come on, you know if the overnight temps drop close to freezing those bridges will have icing. Then if some dim bulb hits that ice and loses control their next step will be to sue the city or township or whatever, because they hadn't treated the roads as they should have.
They live among us.

It was wicked hot down here in Ohio... 16 this morning according to the thermostat. It's 30 now.

I did the mower deck to blower switchout on the '69 Wheel Horse right after T-Day. Since then, I've only gotten one day of use here in WY, as temps have been as high as 60F! I'll take it, but we are ready for Jan/Feb dumping.

The hardest part of the switchover is always attaching the Tire Chains...

The Mower Deck was cleaned, lubed and the blades sharpened for Spring...
