Great actor all around. And a lot of great roles. But his one episode role as the marijuana growing Sherpa in Entourage will always be my favorite performance.

The documentary on Amazon, (or one of the streamers), is really good and thorough but also sad. He really opened up his life for it and his son, Jack, narrates because Val could not talk very well anymore.
When he was a kid, his father bought him and his brothers small movie cameras, (maybe Super 8?), and he documented absolutely everything in his life including Juilliard , early acting roles behind the scenes, etc...

People hating on The Saint but I loved The Saint, maybe because I was unaware of the TV show.

In 1980, I had to review a Shakespeare play for my college theater class. As luck would have it, the king of the rep theaters in the U.S. is in Minneapolis, where I grew up and attended the U of M. That would be The Guthrie. The play that was running that month was, "As You Like it," one of WS's lighter works.
The two lead actors were Val Kilmer and Patti LuPone. Kilmer was completely unknown and I only realized years later that it had been him that I had seen and reviewed. LuPone, while not a household name in film and TV, is a massive star of the stage on Broadway, the West End in London, etc. Years later, maybe 10-15 years ago, I sat with him and several other people at a table in a diner after a music show. I regret that I did not try to chat him up or tell him the Guthrie story, I was engrossed in conversation with someone else and as I remember, he just sat pretty quietly sort of smiling throughout. Listening to the conversation but not really participating. I think that he was sort of a fanboy for the musicians present...actors idolize music people for some reason.

I have enjoyed him as we all have. But it wasn't until I saw "Val" that I got it.
He was one amazing actor. Count me a fan. |

Liar Liar, had some funny bits, but yes, I think the Saint would have been a much better date movie. His performance as Doc Holiday in Tombstone, wow, another great performance.

At my high school, smoking was allowed in the bathrooms between classes. When I needed to pee I made a bee line to the bathrooms and tried to get out of there ASAP, as within 60 seconds the smoke was so thick it was hard to find the door. And that is not an exaggeration! I begged the principal to have at least one no smoking bathroom. He refused. The girls could only smoke in the second floor bathrooms in the school. Walking outside it seems 80% of the students had a lit cancer stick puffing away. And most of the teachers as well.

My business is in a strip mall with 10 stores. I see people drawing on the vape sticks before they go into a business like it will be their last vape. Makes me sad to watch.

My single friend is now Throat cancer free confined to a rehab hospital with a trach tube & feeding tube. He is completely mute, catharized and wearing diapers with soft restraints.
I am praying that "the old persons best friend" known as pneumonia will set him free. Throat cancer can be cured, but its also the reason for a AHCD. The quality of life without a support group is a form of torture

Ted pray for a heart attack, not pneumonia. Slowly drowning is no fun.

I decided to watch "Top Secret!" again last night in tribute to Val Kilmer.
A 1984 movie that i think was his first major role. It is a Abrahams/Zucker Brothers comedy somewhat inline with their 'Airplane' and 'Naked Gun' parodies. I originally watched it back in the mid '80s with my (late) brother and remember us ROFLMAO ing. Enjoyed it again last night as i had forgotten a lot of the jokes and sight-gags over the years. RIP Mr. Kilmer

Watched Heat last night to remember the guy. Have seen Tombstone enough times to have it more or less memorized. A bit off topic but for how great Heat is in general that scene where Pacino and Deniro meet has to be one of the worst Deniro moments ever. Incredibly bad writing on that.
