As a kid, I remember thinking that the Mustang II looked cool. I still think that it looks better than a '72 or '73 mustang. I really did not like the front end after '69 or 70, I think.

I had a buddy that had one in the early 90s. His was a V-6. I rode in his car once or twice. It was shocking how bad it was. They look like they should be sporty, and they came with a big engine for such a small car. From what I've heard, the V8 versions were even worse than the V6 because they still didn't have much power, but the V8 was heavier and made the handling even worse (handled like an old truck).

It's funny how similar the older Monza looked. It's another car that was small and came with a V8, but was about as far from a muscle car as is possible.

Farrah back then could sit on a dumpster and make it look good.

I moved some posts to the dumpster Farrah is sitting on...much better, thanks.

You guys are the best...

Assuming a 60's or early 70's muscle car was actually able to generate 1G of acceleration (drag slicks and motorcycle width front tires), what level of simultaneous lateral G experience could be considered controlled and how little beyond that would result in complete loss of control?

We won't even try to talk about braking.

IMO one trick ponies might be dead but performance cars have sailed beyond the horizon since.

Total of a little over 1.4g through the tires. With modern rubber I could see it.

There was a ton of good music in 1977, for all tastes.

Aja, Pink Floyd Animals, Exodus, The Clash, Rumours, Elvis Costello, Slowhand, I Robot.....

The list is long!

And when it gets covered by someone born this century kids might listen to it. Until then it’s for old people.

A few more years and they’ll be like model a’s.
Bunch of 80 year old guys sitting round beautiful sculptures.

Fool's errand on the street- if used the driver would likely blow their Depends right out of their jorts.

rjp

Think of a number without context is silly. My last SUV had 500hp.
It wasn’t fast.
It for sure couldn’t pass a gas station.

This is true. My pal bought a 2015-ish Macan S for his wife and had a 2008 GT3RS as a side piece.

HP numbers were comparable (400+) but he was not pleased at all with the Macan's performance.

What's extra funny about that is that the kids think that their band is the original for those old remakes. That always cracks me up.

Yeah, '74 - early 80s was pretty horrible. And you could find yourself thinking "maybe a good exhaust and intake and carb would help, but probably not much since the compression ratio, cam and heads were probably all pretty horrible too.

Good! I'm an old person and when Twilight Zone hits the airwaves when I'm driving in the desert in the dark, I still crank it up and rock out and it makes me feel grateful to be alive.
