Anyone use something like this? or do you need to get into the $1K+ range for a good roaster like a HotTop? No way I can oven roast.
SR800 Coffee Roaster – Roast Coffee at Home – Variable Heat and Fan Control – Digital Display – Roasts 6–8 oz (170–226g) Per Batch – Easy to Use – Fast Roast Time

Beans, but you do need to make sure you get the grind correct or the coffee will not be as good as it can be.

in all seriousness. I buy pre-ground coffee from Costco.
do a pour-over every morning and drink it black. I'm fine with it. I have other **** to get all snooty about, and my coffee isn't it.

You're an adult. Grind your own beans

Same here. Wife just buys 100 packs of Walmart's finest Great Value Donut shop blend. Lol
A Keurig machine in my shop, one in the house, one on my desk at work, one on my wife's desk at work and one in the coach. No muss no fuss. Coffee just needs to taste and smell like coffee and I am good with it. On a similar note.... I don't drink a lot of beer, but when I do I just want it to taste like beer (not grapefruit or some other weird ass one off IPA stuff) ![]()

Best coffee I've ever had, by far, was a Kenya AA in a small castle turned business center in England while managing the back end of Gillette buying Parker Pen (did not go well). That coffee was life changing. Have bought a ton of Kenya over the years with no equal. https://www.sweetmarias.com/green-coffee/africa/kenya.html

NGL, the more modern ones are centuries away from Tasters Choice. It works out that they're more expensive per cup ($ not time) than fresh but when in need... I keep a few in a travel survival kit for emergencies.
For bean, always fresh ground at the point of use. Jura superauto for my 3 espressos/morning or from the Roncillo (something) when we have guests that need that big carafe of drip. Grinding a pot's worth takes about as much time as filling the maker with water and grabbing a filter. From beans also helps us easily work up a half-caf blend that mrs johnson needs to thread the sleep-vs-tweak razor edge.

I too don't like the waste when using K cups.

Grind fresh every day.. I only have one cup so a manual burr grinder is fine...
Then AeroPress or pour over.. And I buy beans from a small local roaster.. ![]() ![]()

I never thought it would happen to me, I'm a Starbucks House Blend coffee drinker. Nothing else unless in the rare occasion I will buy a donut shop coffee which is usually pretty good. Once a year I might buy a latte and wish I hadn't.
I did the SB beans and the ground as well. I use a French press only using water out of a Keurig. I can't tell the difference, so rather than making all that noise. I just scoop the ground out of a sealed jar I keep. I buy the smaller bags so it can't be that old. One cup first thing in the morning. Once a month I'll have 2 cups for no reason. |

I am a coffee snob compared to you! I use a Keurig. Pop the pod in and wait for it to fill my cup.

Last I read, it's not how recent the beans were ground that matters. It's how fresh the beans are after baking, but proper baking and grinding is too much work.
After decades of black coffee I switched to Celsius. They have some interesting carbonated fruit blends + 200mg caffeine.

My wife and I were toying with the idea of getting a Jura EN8, what's the consensus on flavor and ease of maintenance? We tried it at the local Sur La Table but they were using Illy beans which I'm not a fan of. It was an okay espresso, but not really better than a cup-fed nespresso.
