Those bars are a little low.

The sissy bar is actually a high-quality HD accessory that quickly attaches or detaches but yeah, it's kind of ugly. Great for road trips, though, because you can tie a sleeping bag and a tent in a bag on it, etc..

Just bought some stock handlebars with the correct, (shorter), cables and brake hose on eBay. Tires are ordered and on the way, (Michelins), got it registered yesterday and have a 2026 sticker. Will be riding soon!

Really getting into cleaning and detailing this thing, the quality of paint and chrome on them is amazing. I consider it a personal challenge to transform this neglected, outdoor animal back to its original glory. It eats up a bit of time but I will not ride it until the new tires arrive and are mounted so it's down anyway.

Yesterday's progress, it was really nasty under the chrome trim on tank:

I used some Leatherique oil and cleaner on the seat and stock foot pegs arrived in my mailbox yesterday, so those ugly ones are going in the trash.

I love it. You are going to wind sprucing it up so nice that you will wind up wanting to keep it.

And, yeah, Harley finishes. No one does them better. No one. We used to joke it was because we spent so much time sitting next to them on the side of the road staring at them. Might as well be pretty.

Looking great!

I do not want to take that tank trim off mine…. I imagine it’s pretty grimy under there.

Hell I’m happy if I get the dead bugs off.

Bikes looking great Dennis! Cleaned up real nice. Makes me not want to look at my grimy thing.

Harley's factory paint is unmatched. My 35 yo finish is still holding up incredibly well.

Now that's funny along the lines of, "If it don't go, chrome it."

Hey Jeff, if it wasn’t for the forward controls, I’d definitely consider keeping it. There is an old saying wrt collecting anything, (cars/art/wives); “don’t acquire stuff that you don’t like. You might get stuck with it.”

These guys make a set of mid controls. I've used their stuff in the past, it's well made.

No tats on me but there was a guy who used to post in the 911 tech forum who had a huge Porsche crest tattooed on his back. Every bit as stupid. Clownish.
