A paddleboarder rescues a drowning raccoon struggling to stay afloat in the open waters of Lake Huron. Watch the dramatic animal rescue unfold as Kylie races to save its life.

While boating near Grand Bend in Ontario, Canada, a group of friends spotted an exhausted raccoon far from shore. The animal was quickly running out of strength, so Kylie, a registered veterinary technician, grabbed her paddleboard and headed into the water.

Reaching the frightened raccoon was not easy. It kept drifting away as Kylie tried to guide it toward safety. After several tense attempts, the raccoon finally managed to climb onto the paddleboard.

Thanks to Kylie’s quick thinking and compassion, the raccoon was safely brought back to shore.

The waterhole is buzzing with zebra and wildebeest, but this elephant bull has no intention of changing his plans.

He calmly makes his way through the crowd, enjoys a long drink, finds the perfect spot for a scratch and rounds off his visit with a dusty spa treatment. While the other animals come and go, he takes everything at his own pace.

A polar bear cub residing in an aquarium in Japan's Akita Prefecture has gone viral for his love of traffic cones. Mobile phone footage obtained by the Associated Press showed the cub, named Momota, pushing his head inside a cone and poking his mother's back.

After months of rehabilitation, seven of our beautiful sea turtle patients are officially back where they belong!

We released Kalimba, Glockenspiel, Doodle, Pekingese, Wheezy, and Rose at Apollo Beach in New Smyrna Beach, and got to watch each of them make their way back into the ocean.

From cold stunning and fibropapilloma tumors to their journey back to the wild, these turtles have come such a long way.

A barn owl was rescued by a group of soldiers after it was seen struggling 70 miles from shore.

After falling into the sea on several occasions, the bird "collapsed" on a boat filled with members of the British Army taking part in a race around Britain and Ireland.

The crew looked after it until the Caister Independent Lifeboat met the soldiers off the Norfolk coast and transported the owl to land.

Mark Petherbridge, a member of the Army Offshore Racing Team, said: "It's been a tough 24 hours for him; it's not the most comfortable boat to be on, but he's doing well, and hopefully he gets the help he needs now."

The army crew named him Little Reg, short for regiment - after the parachute group Petherbridge is a member of.

He said: "We saw it behind the boat; it came alongside and was sort of clearly tired.

"It flew alongside and was trying to find a place to land and get on board. He fell in the water a couple of times and eventually collapsed on deck, so we picked him up and put him in a box."

The Army team praised Little Reg for showing a "real will and tenacity to survive".

After handing over their extra crew member, the team went on to complete in the Royal Ocean Racing Club's race around Britain and Ireland.
