I like LMNT hydration powder, but only if I am sweating.

for a daily thing. MY NEW THING. Hibiscus TEA!!

I buy a big bag of it at the Mexican grocery store. cheap!! boil a pot of water, fist full of dried flowers, steep...you can drink as is, but I do add a cinnamon stick to the steep.

and I do add some sugar. very little, just to tame the tartness. it tastes like unsweetened cranberry juice. I say 1/3 cup of sugar to a gallon of tea. I know sugar subs would work.

Thank you all. I may go to GNC or the local health food store for advice on low sodium non electrolyte powder. I guess you all know drinking electrolytes all day every day instead of plain water has side effects for those that don't have an active life. We are talking about a person that has trouble with mobility at times. Water is number one, but as I said, she likes sweet things and that is a way for me to work this. Demanding that she drink x amount of water per day goes nowhere. Hell, even Chrystal Light would be better than nothing.

I would love to find some sample packs of a few drink powders before spending the money needed and only get a single flavor. I bet I could do a much better marketing plan for these companies. I've never heard of any of it. Red Bull, now that's how it's done (to the extreme). I used to drink some RB's and loved the taste. The stuff didn't do much for me though. Maybe you have to be half dead for it to wake you up, IDK. I go like a house afire from dawn to dusk 7 days. I don't need no stinkin' RB. 31" waist pants are tight, 32 fall down w/o a belt.

Due to some recent health issues I was also looking at alternatives. I have never been much
of a soda/pop drinker but was recommended this product by a number of people
Olipop Soda, comes in a number of flavors. 40 calories per 12 oz, 6 grams of dietary fiber,
sodium 30mg, total sugars 2-5 grams depending on flavor. Prebiotics,botanicals and plant
fiber. Tastes good, low sugar and good plant fiber. Widely available,do not confuse this with
Poppi a different soda entirely . Olipop could be part of a combination of products that might
help.

ALDI brand is much much cheaper. I does contain aspartame.

I make a half gallon container and put it on my nightstand. When I drink the lemonade (overnight) I think it burns my gums from remaining in my mouth and the citric acid does a little chewing. I say this because my teeth cleaning tech and dentist said something is burning your gums. No tobacco or hard booze either so lemonade acid (when I drink it) seems like a reasonable culprit.

Not a recommendation, it’s just what I do. I buy sweet tea and unsweetened tea by the gallon at Krogers. I mix them 1/4 sweet to 3/4 unsweetened and guzzle it all day. The sweet tea is too sweet, and the plain is too bland.

My sister drinks Ocean Spray ZERO Sugar Cranberry Juice Drink. Not a powder but no sugar and no calories. They have a bunch of different flavors. I'm sure there's a little artificial sweetener in there. probably aspartame.

There's usually an entire section in the grocery store of various powders you can use to flavor water. She uses some of those as well, no idea which ones.

I juice a lemon and add that to water. Been doing that since I was a kid.

Again, it is not a good idea for a non active person to drink electrolyte enhanced drinks all day long. The industry thinks we are all athletes sweating our balls off. Sodium laden drinks are good for hydration due to heavy physical effort. It's a damn buzz word and they want you to think you need this stuff. Water is best.

My problem is getting her to drink enough water. I like Patrick's idea of mixing teas. But I don't like the idea of buying any premixed anything because cases are heavy and take up a lot of space. Not to mention bulk fluid is expensive.

I've never understood why people buy water. Like Seahawk says, just filter it, there are so many ways. We have an RO system at the sink. The direct to faucet ones work fine. The water in Long Beach tests good so I drink tap water mainly because I find it everywhere around the house and don't like ice cold water. The friggen' hose is OK with me and always has been. I'm still here. I do let it run a bit before drinking.

Shoot, dogs drink out of the toilet. Animals drink out of the gutter. What's the big deal?

Unfortunately I need something sweet that is tantamount to tap water to get my wife to drink it w/o badgering her. She don't need no sports drink. Patrick for the win, so far.

I also use LMNT but it's HIGH in sodium--that's their whole gimmick.

Instant iced tea and mix to taste? Add a little honey for sweet?

Just squeeze some lemon juice in plain filtered tap water. This has three benefits.

The citrate in lemon juice binds to calcium and reduces the risk of a calcium stone - which is about 80+% of kidney stones.

The water will hydrate and increase urine volume, which further reduces the risk of a stone.

It's cheap and readily available.

I had a 7mm stone in June. Took 2 surgeries to blast it and pull it out. I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy.

Tang? Maybe a homemade lemon/lime aid. My Dr. recommended I increase my citrus intake.

I have had bad luck with kidney stones and have been using a stone breaker for a few years since my last stone.

I drink a lot of water with lemon juice, Meyer lemon tree. I get lipton powdered tea, because the wife likes Arnold Palmers

Maybe get the old fashioned Kool-aid packets where you add sugar and water and see how little sugar you can ad and still get your wife to drink it?

I find that I only put about 2/3rd of the recommend amount and am happy.

Another strategy could be to see about cutting out sugar in her other foods so it isn’t as crucial to cut back in her drinks?
