Car pics too! I like watching the Larry Chen videos of the insane Japanese car culture and shops.

Tokyo! Love that town but it's been a while. I must get back there at some point.

I was inspired to visit the place after watching "Black Rain".

And a store called Lawson's. It's basically a convenience store, but like 7-11 (or "7 & iHoldings"), they have a huge variety of stuff. I've bought lunch there before...

That was a great movie, Peter.

Have you ever seen Mr. Baseball?

Yes, Tokyo is cool, but I'd also like to see Kyoto since it's got more historic/traditional stuff to see.

Yep, also great. From memory his GF/Wife drove a VW.

I thought that was unusual considering they were in Japan.

Stark reminder that Japan is not ADA compliant. Saw an old dude trip on a makeshift ramp and faceplant the edge of a flowerpot. My friend got to him fast to help him up. But the blood gushed. His wife (nurse - ER) went into action. A few doctors were nearby vacationing and took over.

It was scary and sobering. The cry from the old guy ripped my heartstrings. He was so scared. Nurse friend thinks he just broke his nose. The abo pulled in as we pulled out.

0% of the crowd had their phones out to film. What an afternoon. I hope he’s okay.

Grab a pack of strawberries at 7-11.
If you're into motorcycles hit up a shop called NAPS. Arai helmets are less than 1/2 what you'd pay in the US. I grab a new helmet every time I'm there.

She was the coach's daughter. :D

Later to become his love interest and eventually his wife.

Yes....a VW......

Scene from James Bond (Sean Connery) 1967 movie "You Only Live Twice" where he marries a Japanese girl "Kissy Suzuki" in an undercover ploy. The marriage is Japanese style and the actress is Mie Hama. James Bond's best man (head of Japanese Secret Service) is "Tiger" Tanaka (actor is Tetsuro Tamba, July 17, 1922 – September 24, 2006).

You do realize that we're all waiting on photos and write-ups of the cool stuff that you did and saw, right?

We gave you a pass from daily posts while you were there, but now that you're back...

lets close this thread the way it should.

Japan is awesome. the people are polite to the point it almost made me uncomfortable. hahah.. women skirts come in two lengths.. long enough to just drape below the "hooey" and long enough to cover down to the ankles. Both versions are worn by some of the most beautiful human beings on this green earth. they have a grace that is unmatched. even their strides are graceful.

food is incredible. ordering wasn't an issue since most restaurants have a vending machine kiosk thing out front you pre-order from. all of them have a big button that says, "ENGLISH". I literally smash that button and subscribe. best thing I ate in Tokyo was my first try at Japan beef. the good stuff. rich, soft. I will probably never use horseradish ever again. wasabi with beef is better. Japan doenst feed tourist much in the way of veggies. coming from a fiber rich diet stateside, and eating as a Japanese tourist makes one regret not packing the Metamucil. (TMI?). strangest thing I ate was a sandwich that tasted like strawberry dessert. I ate the traditional Japanese breakfast many times. piece of oily fish, bowl of rice, bowl of miso soup, some pickles, hot tea. cost me $4. and it doesnt matter the magnitude of the restaurants fanciness. the napkins - lets me honest..it is toilet paper. one wipe of the mouth, and it is game over for the napkin. haha..

toilets at least have the bidet feature.. I mean all of them.

True story. I did have to pee in a squat toilet. this was at the Tokyo palace gardens. I was peeing in the hole wondering why this is the first squat pit I have encountered. wouldn't a urinal be better? I come out of the tiny room and come face to face with a gaggle of Japanese ladies. I was in the women's room!!! they laughed at me when I blushed and ran off. my wife looked at me, and I simply said, "can I have some hand sanitizer?" hahahaha..

Tackle stores. I am still shell shocked. I was buying reels at 50% off. the guy at the store said something to his coworkers that I can only guess was, "hey guys, we can close early today!! these two dumb Americans are going to piss off their wives!". first time I have ever carried a shopping basket in a tackle shop. I high-fived a baller Russian dude that had full basket! (his wife was Persian lady that could be a model - even my wife was "what is that pretty lady doing in her by herself?)..he was winning in many ways. he bought so many lures. he did nod in approval at the two reels waiting for me at the counter.

the Japan economy is supposed to whatever that makes the Yen so weak against the dollar. I dont pretend to understand economics. but I didnt see a thing. I saw Ferraris. bass boats, people shopping like mad.

wife and I might go back next year. Kyoto or Osaka. we want to see her parents as much as we can. they are much older now. I dont want my wife to waste much time.

oh, I ate a Fuji apple while staring at Mt Fuji. hahha
