What weight oil ? And is it synthetic ? Just curious because of the potential for very cold starts in your neck of the woods . I assume it's fuel injected ? I guess maybe I made an assumption that you will use it in the winter . Woops

Yes, it's EFI...one of the reasons I wanted this model.
I checked the oil level and it's good and the owners manual calls for JD (of course) 10W30. No mention of syn or not. I might call the dealer and ask on that. Thinking syn will be fine. No, it will only be used in the growing season here. (April-Nov)

^^^ I've bought those maintenance kits before....looks like my 590 takes 2.2 qts.
Would there be any reason to not use synthetic? I hear both being used...syn or reg. edit: I just looked at Amazon and they have a kit for mine.....$145 oil changes will not be cheap. ![]() .

My local Agco (JD) dealer offers the mntc kits on sale periodically - I think 20A% or 25% off.

^^^
The reason I quit buying them was that they included items that had a much longer time interval between changes....like trans-axle filters and carb filters. I can see using the kits for like every 5th oil change or so. It was too cold tonight to check out the LED lights that you posted....tomorrow is supposed to be better. The 1156's bulbs that it comes with are better suited for flashlights.

^^^ I'm thinking that.
I have to stop in at the dealer (prob tomorrow) I'll ask there. I also want to ask about all the open (bolt holes?) on my 54" mowing deck. I counted 8 in all. I have no idea why they are there. My 48" deck had none.
