I didn't realize about your back. Absolutely do everything for the back. Even mowing part of the way and having to stop because you hurt is no way to go. Your back is everything. Well, arms and legs count biggly, but you have to take care even if you have to buy Jeremy Clarkson's Lamborghini tractor !

^^^ I had the balloon kyphoplasty procedure done. It improved my back 80%....but it still hurts when jostled around. Before the procedure....I couldn't use a lawn rake for 5 sweeps without it making me quit.
It's all related back to my broken femur from 8 years back. They inserted a titanium rod into my femur bone, but the fractured vertebrae went unnoticed until it gave me problems.

A lady in an suv t-boned me while biking.

I guess that depends on how they measure. I don’t know how they measure hp on lawnmowers or subcompact tractors. I suspect they just do some calculations and add some zeros. My 1940 Ford 9N had 23 dyno hp, weighed a bit over a ton, and was still too light in the ass to drag 2 12’s in hard ground. My Kubota supposedly has 23 hp, weighs a little over half a ton, and wouldn’t have a chance. I don’t know what a lawnmower would do with 23 hp as measured with a dyno.
Congrats, Steve, on what Santa brought you. You must have been a very good boy this year.

^^^ Thanks....it sure beats a couple lumps of coal...lol

As far as the hp goes....that wasn't what sold me on the tractor. This is my third JD and the second one with a Kawasaki engine. My first one had a Kohler and it was replaced because of oil starvation on mowed slopes. The second one also had the Kaw engine and it was perfect for 25 years.

I'm sold on the Kaw engines.

Congrats! I've got an X570 I bought used last year with three implements (cart, aerator and dethacher) but also own an X350 I bought new about 5 years ago.

Once of the headlight bulbs went out on the X350 so I went online for a replacement. I upgraded both bulbs with these replacements below. These things give off incredible light compared to the OEM bulbs. Not sure if the new(er) models have better lighting - but periodically I have the need to operate the mower as it approaches dusk and with these LED bulbs it makes a world of difference.

^^^ Those are the ones I have looked at (post #11)
I seldom use the tractor when it's dusk or later...but I would like it to be bright when I do use the lights.
They say that there is no dimming at low rpm's also with those...I like that.

Your X-570 is very similar to mine.

I'm taking the chute deflector off tomorrow because of limited space in it's new home.

You will really like the rear diff lock . I also have a sloped yard with one section that is quite steep . I installed ATV style rear tires along with 150 lbs of wheel weights per side . The grass can be soaking wet and I can climb or go down the inclines with no slippage at all . The foot controlled transmission is a dream , so much easier than the older hand controlled hydros .

I have had a 317/318/320/332 and a 430 . They were all good machines but all hand controlled hydros . I really think JD hit a sweet spot with the X series . Enjoy the new toy , come on spring time

Fun fact , JD makes mowing decks called " 7 irons " . They are called that because they are made from 7 gauge steel . JD has the only presses in north America that can stamp those 7 gauge decks . It takes 4,000,000 lbs of force to do so . My 60 inch 7 iron deck weighs almost 400 lbs !!! The deck alone weighs more than some lawn tractors .

^^^ Wow...that is a heavy deck! How do you flip it over...or do you do everything from under it?
First thing I noticed with mine is the re-bar welded around the lower edge for strength...I like that.

Do you use your 'wash out ports'? And if so...how do you like them? (maybe only one, but I assume with that size deck they put two?)

I drive the tractor up on ramps and do blade maintenance from underneath . Yes the welded steel rod on the deck adds tons of strength. I have never used the wash out ports .

^^^My 335 didn't come with them....so I've never used one. When I noted that to the salesman, I noticed he sorta sneered about it as if he didn't approve. I didn't ask him more.

I'll prob try it a few times. I'm not too concerned about the water with it being on the bottom. If there was a buildup of old grass....then I would not.

One thing I did after a few mowings was to remove the spindle covers . They are a grass/dirt/schmutz collection system . I am the only person mowing and the machine won't engage the blades if you are not in the seat so I don't see it as a safety concern . I use my electric leaf blower after every mowing to clean off the top of the mowing deck . Without the covers in place those recessed areas by the spindles clean up easily .
