The fountain pen thread got me curious. How many left handers do we have here on the board? I would have done a poll but I’m not sure how….

I am left handed, so is my wife, and one of my 3 kids.

One more… wickedly so.

Other than the inconvenience of living in a physical world designed for the right handed, have you left handlers been stigmatized or experienced any discrimination due to your uniqueness? My sister is left handed. I used to tease her about it. Maybe I shouldn’t have.

Born right handed forced into left handed due to nerve damage. Now a wee bit ambidextrous.

I never experienced any negative comments . Just that I write like a doctor :D

My son and I are both left handed. My identical twin brother is right handed which makes us "mirror twins".

I was born a lefty but having a Chinese mom changed that.

She forced me righty so I could be better. Haha. I’m kinda ambidextrous as well.

Left handed here as well, in 8th grade I encountered a left handed school chair that supported the left hand on the desk with an open right side for entry and egress . . .

I'm ambidextrous but I write using my left hand (mostly).

Lucky guy. I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

I'm right-handed, but I golf and swing a bat left-handed. I don't know why. This does not make me ambidextrous, I cannot write with my left hand or bat right-handed.

Left-handed here. Was not much fun. Going to Catholic school in the early 60s and being left-handed. Just picture a nun with an 18 inch oak ruler standing behind you as you’re trying to learn how to write.

Lefty here. But, I am right eye and leg dominant. Which means I absolutely suck at basketball. But am lots of fun hitting baseballs - I can switch hit. Golf, play guitar like a righty. Shoot more accurately lefty but more naturally righty. Confused yet?

Hand writing is really really poor. I was coerced to switch to right hand writing in grade school. Cried most days. It was awful and never worked.

Last factoid: my employer (commercial insurance broker) has something like 65% lefty's in sales / ownership positions last I polled.
